Foreign seller on ebay.co.uk VAT Registration
 

Hi guys

Due to the lack of availability of UK ebay stealth I currently have a Netherlands ebay stealth account

When I list on ebay.co.uk with the item located in Netherlands it lists without issue or warning

However when I list on ebay.co.uk with the item located in the UK I get a warning message about the need to provide a VAT registration number although it will let me proceed with the listing without providing one

Does this mean that if I list the item as being physically located in the UK that I will have to provide a VAT registration number before I can withdraw my earnings?

Yes, any outside UK need VAT number to sell local, and one VAT take 1~2 months to apply now.

Thanks for your reply. What will happen if I don't give ebay a VAT number? They instantly block all payments or eventually block all payments?

Can I give a creative vat number?

Never ever mess with customs & excise information or numbers

you will have to pay VAT either way , if you do not register you will have to state a foreign location and will have lower traffic and an automated VAT charge

if you register you will have to file VAT returns

Ok fair enough. I hope someone figures out how to create UK ebay stealth soon.

What if I had a Netherlands ebay personal account not am ebay business account would that make any difference to ebay UK VAT requirements?

It's crazy in uk taking even much longer HMRC getting very strict on foreign sellers

They’ve been strict on Local UK sellers

About time the foreigners got HMRC’s big willy as well

If U.K. trading standards did bother to operate internationally most that f#ke garbage coming in to our borders would stop as well
