Default really feel for you guys

I used ebay for about 3 years doing stealth accounts etc, always had about 20 or so accounts at a time making decent money.

i fell away from it about 2 years ago so have not really been paying attention.

anyway, i have some of my own stuff to sell and i recently went and created my own account, totally legit info, own pc (never been used for stealth), i listed 1 item (some un worn baby clothes) and my account was instantly restricted.

was asked to upload photo id etc., no issues as i have it all obvs.

the speed at which they restricted the account got me wondering so i powered up the old esxi host and created a few VM's, ran through the old method of creating stealths and every single one of the accounts was restricted right after 1st item was listed, from a coffee mug to a network switch.

is this the new thing for ebay? i have been reading the forums for a couple of days now reading all about the unadulterated hassle you guys have to go through to manage this stuff now.

It was a PITA back when i was doing it but now it seems that its almost impossible to run decent earning stealt accounts.

honestly i feel for you guys who make a living off the back of this, it was russian roulette back in the day, now it just seems like ebay will shoot you in the face as the first hurdle.

They now use much more advanced methods to find out if you are legit or not. Virtual machines are easily spotted now by bots. So old methods of account creation no longer work.

to be honest i thought they would have been able to pick up on a vm years ago, a quick java call to list system type would give that info.

Of course they could, but now Ayden pushed them hard in that direction to prevent most of the fraud. I believe that was the requirement for ebay to implement same safety as Ayden in order to use them as a payment processor.

I would have thought that ebay would have had its own incentive to clean up its platform rather than being forced into it by Ayden, I wouldnt suppose Ayden was the only Payment processor that ebay had considered partnering with.

I guess what i am saying is that i doubt Ayden had the clout to tell ebay what to do.

who knows, but from what you guys are saying its got 90% harder to do stuff now.

All that crap started simultaneously with the introduction of MP, so it seems it came from Ayden.

Just had a account half suspended after a first listing. It wasn't a full suspension just said talk to us within 7 days and tell us more information, your item has been moved to unsold items. This seemed like the usual information harvesting eg how many items, whats your source etc.

Guy on chat was non negotiable, and quit chat while I was trying to squeeze more info from him.

Only mistake he made is a typo "##pow1"
I am guessing this is the name of the document where he was pasting the info from

update: Tried again today 1 day later and second guy looked like he will pass me, asked the usual questions what item you selling, how many? So yeah told him selling few old used screw drivers (safe non branded item) to which he pasted me a link to upload drivers license + bank statement

(I already put in a working license and bank into MP when first put up the listing)

This never happened before ebay just keeps stepping up, really getting drained here each day I wake up I think what new surprise will be in inbox

Sorry don’t mean to step on any one’s toes

But this is quite old, I remember saying this in the forums during 2019.

My personal opinion would be to build cookies for about 2 weeks before listing - 9 times out of 10 it will not get suspended

And I really like your opinion...

just that people are very impatient and want to reap the benefits now.

Though there is difference of opinions, I also have always preferred aging the account for few weeks before sales begin

I created an account in the exact same method as the ones previously mentioned in this thread but instead of a VM i used a new profile on my own PC, it was just to satisfy my curiosity.

5 items listed and no issues

in my opinion if you are using a vm then no amount of aging will allow you to create a selling account.

I wont even bother...the sites i sell on i simply upload a CSV file with 1000s of products and make sales. Literally no competition, 2x-4x margin depending on the product and site. No random security checks

Curious, at this point could someone not just make their own website? You could use something like shopify and sell whatever you want forever, what's the issue with that ?
