buy a uk account
 

i have a friend, want to quit ebay. he is a personal seller and he ask if i want to buy his account.

i am thinking can i just use my bank detail on managed payment and upload my own vat to the account, which is not related to the seller information, is it ok to do so?

Should be OK to do that yes

Just make sure that you get the cookies transferred over

Ebay do not permit the transfer of accounts, so if they got wind of it then they'd suspend it.

Any meaningful changes to the account would surely trigger some kind of re-verification.

Bank account change...you might get away with it.
Ownership change, VAT number change...not a chance - await the dreaded messages.

Not quite true these days Hank

Updating certain things is ok. Just have to make sure its done on the original PC

While its not officially transferred it is fine to add in your own bank account (ideally a business one) and then update the VAT number

I'm not convinced that changing the VAT number wouldn't pique their curiosity, particularly when it belongs to an unconnected business. Not sure how supplying VAT receipts, claiming it (fees etc) back via their accounts and reporting to HMRC would work either.

But I guess OP is going to find out. :)
