Dynamic IP

Hi

Does anyone else use Smarty for mobile internet in the UK

I've just noticed that the IP doesn't change when you reconnect

Which networks are more likely to give a fresh IP?
Cheers

Re: Dynamic IP

mobile internet is treated differently , the selection of addresses is smaller so that many people may use the same ip

I know there's a smaller pool, but with smarty I am not managing to change the IP at all.

This might explain it.

"If you’re using SMARTY for 4G home broadband, it’s worth knowing that you won’t be assigned a publicly-accessible IP address on your router. This is because SMARTY uses CGNAT technology for their customers (so you’ll be assigned a private IP address that’s unable to accept incoming connections)."

I cribbed it from this page:

https://kenstechtips.com/index.php/smarty-data-sim

IP address issues are discussed here too, although some poster on both sites seem to be complaining that their IP constantly changes and one who said it took 5 days to get it to change. Go figure?

In any event, Three ,who's service they use don't have this issue, I've used one of their SIMs in a mifi unit for many years all over Europe and the US and it's been flawless.

OK cheers.

Well I suppose that's what I get for a cheap Internet deal.

Looks like I'll have to go back to three

Also I am using Now broadband at home, but when I reset the router I am getting the same IP address.

Call them to find out if your IP is dynamic, Virgin media told me mine is dynamic but it doesn't change IP address after reset.
