Recieved message on all accounts to upgrade to Business?
 

Hi. I’ve recieved messages to all my accounts from eBay asking me to upgrade to a business account within 30 days or receive restrictions. What does this mean for me and is there any way to get around it?

Also how does being a business account expect me? I don’t want to display my address in listings also what does it mean regarding hmrc?

One last thing, most of the stuff I sell on the accounts is just crap, obviously I sell the because it’s free to list. Does this mean I will have to pay to list these items now?

how much turnover do these accounts make?

business and personal is almost the same thing , they force people to go to business so that they can not profit from low or abscent fees for private sellers

Does it matter about the value of the item? I did sell some expensive items but I asked the buyers to collect and pay cash and canceled the orders, I don’t like selling expensive items on eBay (one was car engine and other was alloy wheels) the other account I’ve probably sold about 1 k of items since the start of the year.

It actually does.

They determine your volume then decide if it's a business or personal.

Like amazon, when you sell a certain $$ it just makes sense to make it a business account.

Hmmmm..... I'm assuming you used ebay motors right?
So think about it as eBay as your advertising cost.

I received the same request a few years ago which forced me to switch to a business account and provide LTD or UTR details. I strongly believe that these requests are made randomly and based on the quantity of products sold/listed and total income. At the time I was running personal accounts that sold 100x more of the same products than the accounts from which I received the emails yet I did not get this request.

Hi. So was just browsing on my mobile to see how to change to Buisness account
And it says go into account settings and do it from there. But there is no option to do it. Is this something that can only be done from a desktop?

Maybe try your phone browser and check for this option if it forwards you to the app uninstall it until you're done

Hi. So my 30 days are up today and I have only managed to update 2 accounts to business. The other two I can’t update the payment info so they won’t
Update. Need to probably ring eBay but just no time. Will they take action against the accounts straight away?

Why not move to desktop operations to assess what you can see?

where are these car engine and alloy wheels listed>Ebay motors?
Ebay motors is different from other categories,there is listing fee for listing a vehicle but no FVF.
But for parts and accessories,there is FVF,so if your buyer keeps cancelling orders and pay you outside Ebay,if Ebay finds out,your account could be suspended.

Check eBay's policies to see if your current selling activity actually requires a business account. If you're just selling personal items occasionally, you might not need to switch.
