Upgrading to business account, does eBay check address?
 

Hi. So with eBay asking me to upgrade to a Buisness account I don’t want to put my home address there as it will be on display. Most of my items are collection only so I was wondering if it’s ok just to use a random address? Will eBay check to make sure it’s my address? I’d prefer to remain a private seller but eBay seems to be forcing this.

using random registration address? this most certainly carries risk of suspension , although some people have been claiming here they use random address and personals details with bogus docs

I would not believe a single word , there are many cases in which people were suspended for this and I have yet to see proof for anyone that credit checks that ebay do are in fact not a problem

anyone using ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ID may b able to work as a private seller if you are selling household items ocassionally but if you want to list and earn more nobody will survie with ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ID because ebay checks that, once you submit the id that it´s a real one. i also dont believe anyone claiming the opposite

as for the op question, from my experience i believe that yes you can use a different address you have 2 options 1 put an addr4ess of any other property you own, or a relative´s address or 2 write your current address but change some characters for example dr instead of drive, and st instead of street. ebay doesn´t manually check person details all checks are automated by the system

When I upgrade, will eBay start to request any further information from me? like companies house checks? I’m not a registered company so o concerned that they might ask for further information. O don’t think I’m a business but eBay obviously do so worried I will have to start making stuff up to please them in order to not close my accounts.

you are overthinking. you don't need to register as self employed or company for selling on ebay as a business seller. what matters is that you declare the income thats it

You can't 'declare' the income without being a 'Sole Trader' or equivalent and registering for a tax return...

Hi. So I’ve upgraded one account to a business account with a rented business address, it’s now displaying that address on my listings. My accounts are already linked as eBay sent the message to upgrade to all accounts at the same time. The accounts are all in my name. Can I go ahead and use this address for all the accounts now? Or would that be a problem ?
