National Insurance Number - UK eBay & Paypal
 

Hi,

This has been covered/discussed multiple times. But never a conclusion has been reached nor a user experience has been shared..

Just a simple question.. has anyone put in an incorrect NI number (that doesnt tie to the name on the account) only for ebay to reject it?

As mentioned by some users - HMRC do not share their database with eBay so it is unlikely that there are any 2 way checks.

Can anyone share their experience?

lol just put any no there...ur stealth might not even live up to the point of proper verification in the long run

My stealth is over 10 years old actually. So just wanted to check before I do so

What I did was take my actual NI and swap out all the numbers, they don't have two way checks, just like they don't have a way to check the name on your bank account.

eBay do the bare minimum to comply with regulations, keep that in mind.

With any bank account, names of the eBay & bank account don't have to match.

They don't have the means to / or care to check, they simply want to comply to regulations, change it to anything you like, I'd recommend finding a real NI as an example and swapping a few numbers around
