eBay Live Invitation A few days ago I got a phone call from a eBay rep on one of my stealth's asking if I wanted to do do eBay Live ('eBay Live is a real-time livestream shopping experience on eBay')
Personally I'd rather starve than do it, and don't want to sell more on that account anyway.
But has anyone here tried it ?
What were the results like ? |
| phaz0rz | 07-22-2026 06:06 AM | Re: eBay Live Invitation I usually avoid UK threads but since I went through the same thing a few weeks ago, I'll toss in my 2 cents. Unless you're a trading card seller who regularly breaks down packs, I don't see how this would be much benefit to you. They are trying to compete with Whatnot's "half social network, half live selling platform" business model.
I've sold a few sports cards in the last year which I assume is why I got the call. They wanted me to try eBay Live and they also wanted me to join some kind of seller support group where eBay account reps will get on zoom calls with sellers to advise us on listing strategy. I politely declined both.. telling the guy that live selling would most likely end up costing me money instead of making me any.
If you're in the right niche it can get you tons of new traffic. It won't damage your account in any way if you decline their offer. |

I got one email from a rep on Amazon Prime day telling me that Amazon were selling one of my items cheaper, and if I reduced my price to match Amazon they would give me 50% off the FVF.
No thanks, I'll just wait a few days and sell it at full price, 50% off FVF wasn't worth it. |

| Solid analysis - doesn't feel like it's worth the extra time and effort |

| phaz0rz | 08-06-2026 08:12 AM | Re: eBay Live Invitation This "live auction" thing has become pretty big in the US over the last couple years, thanks largely to the millennial obsession with pokemon cards. It's the inevitable evolution of selling online, as video streaming merges with e-commerce. I can't blame eBay for doing what's necessary to remain a relevant platform.
The kind of buyers that type of selling attracts is a big turn off for me. |

The kind of buyers that type of selling attracts is a big turn off for me. | Same, I want buyers who've done their research, considered their options and come to an informed decision.
Buying on the spur of the moment after a couple of minutes of sales talk on a video sounds like a recipe for returns and disputes. |
