opening auctiva account with new ip from ip used opening ebay account

hi guys , just a quickie.

I opened a new ebay account last night, and have already changed my ip.

Question is, I just read in the stealth that you should use the same ip when opening an auctiva account as the ip used when opening the relevant ebay account. Is this right?

If it helps, I only have opened one ebay account, and its on a sepearate user account to the one im typing on now! Is it safe to open a auctiva account?

cheers guys

auctiva used to be free, so alot of people used it so as not to show their ip to ebay for listing purposes, now auctiva charges, some people just list direct on ebay site...

to create an auctiva, you either need to use the unique ip you registered with ebay on or if you have a dynamic ip, its not an issue

the reason for this is that when you create an auctiva it redirects you to ebay to make a token and link you...it is just this once upon creation, after that you will never be redirected.

Open the auctiva account on the same new user account in windows cause when you go to link it to ebay (which you have to do) you want it all to be in that windows account

Yes I think that its best to use the same IP if possible, but if you have a different ip its not enough to get you suspended but I imagine it will raise a small flag and contribute the the percentage of risk that they have to determine who you are and what you are doing.

You have to maintain the same internet connection when the token is generated. Someone correct me if I'm wrong... after the fact, it will not matter. The services are independent.

However, when the token is generated, I would use it with the same ip. Just curious, but why would this be an issue?

its not actually an issue, Ive created an ebay, come back days later on different ip and created auctiva token..

the confusion is just that some people are taken by surprise that they get redirected to auctiva to log in to ebay, so they should be prepared...ie not be on a banned ip....seriously other than that you are ok.............

I was talking about during the same session. They can't expect people to have a static ip...

I've never had a problem with it though. eBay doesn't own auctiva..... yet.

oompaloompa 01-17-2010 10:38 AM

ip isnt an issue unless its a banned ip....everything else is myth

First Edition 01-17-2010 10:45 AM

banned ip? Won't ip's inevitably be recycled?

oompaloompa 01-17-2010 10:56 AM

yes dynamic ones are recycled true,

say you go on auctiva on a banned static ip , then get redirected to ebay and log in without thinking....thats all, no more , no less

Yes, this make sense now. Good advice!

NZT 01-18-2010 08:11 AM

Yes the IP addresses are recycled but the chances of you getting the same one that either you yourself or another suspended ebay user had are very slim indeed.

Always good to make a note of them though.

I thin when you generate token through Auctiva, Auctiva signs into your account, so its basically like you are signing into your Ebay again. I agree if its different but not banned IP it shouldn't matter, but if you generate token through banned IP, it will probably raise flags.

Yes keep a mental note of what IP addresses you are using with what.
