Does anyone have any information of how long eBay keep your account details? I lost my eBay account a year ago and cannot use my real details to make a new account. But surely there must come a point where eBay bin/delete your details (perhaps due to data Protection acts, etc) so you could open an acount once more using those details.

I don't think so. Once suspended, never try to open another account with the same details.. I think they keep info in computers forever and match any new account created to suspended accounts from data base...

Well you could send them a SAR to find out for sure what info they have.

But RE: data protection they can keep your info for as long as it is relevant. So in the case of permanent suspensions it would be indefinately to prevent that user re-registering.

I had an ebay account I reg. in 2001...I got suspended in early 2004...I got a new account last year, and it was re-suspended...so it seems indefinate...

SO you suggest to use a different name . my account was suspended last month i just opened another account in the same name but different address, different email, diff pay pal acc, diff DOB. do you think is a wrong move. but i was thinking there could be 10 people called 'john williams' in the UK. so using same name in my opinion is no harm.

Sigh - linking will not happen just based on the name....So many people named XYZ - it's all the other info including computer IP, etc that will link.
