New account with new address?

Hi there

so im researching into opening a new account, but i have read that i will need a new address for ebay/paypal as my home address is linked to previous accounts

so what i would like to know is that does it have to be an address of someone i know? and also when i buy items how will i get them to send things to my real address without ebay tracking me messaging the seller with my correct details

any info would be great :)

Getting a mail box is the best. USPS P. O Box is great, but, you need official ids to get one. I am not sure if you need any id to get a private mail box, though. Also UPS and Fedex don't deliver to P.O Box address although they might have some arrangement with USPS to drop off parcels somewhere so you could pick it up in person.

Keep in mind, you don't have to buy anything in order to sell, so don't make the address required that you have access.

I don't think USPS boxes are offered in the UK.

united states postal services box isnt available in the UK? you dont say..

useful that accounts have accessible address, unless you are planning to stay under the £1700 threshold, in which case you can get away with it, possibly...remember if paypal phone verification fails, the a code will go to address....

po box are good, especially for business accounts

arshavin 05-12-2010 01:57 PM

Oompa, what happens if you dont have access to the address and you go over the 1700 barrier?

There is no citizenship or residency requirement to obtain USPS PO Box. You must provide a valid picture id, and another id in person and you also must pick up keys in person. You cannot pay with international credit card, though. Other than that, there is no reason not to get a US PO Box address even if one lives in UK.lol

you have to do location verification by phone, if phone call fails due to number not matching their databse, code goes to address........you can call them and quickly say youve moved but youd be flagging account....

Yes, it's a fact ;) lol

I'm sure UK has an equivalent of a UPS store with mail boxes that look like real addresses.... that's usually the best option.

yes plenty of boxes here, mailbox inc, royal mail etc...or ones that forward mail to you, mail forwarders....for just an address without forwarding we are talking approx £60 and up p .a

arshavin 05-12-2010 04:41 PM

thanks again oompa i feel better about it all again now, haha

craigle 05-13-2010 03:21 AM

I was going to give them my partners parents phone number for the activation code, as that hasnt been used before. But there home address has, would that matter?

or could i give them a public telephone box number which would still have the same dialing code?

so address wise i am screwed really, and wont be able to buy anything cos if i message someone i will get caught out

GreenBean 05-13-2010 03:30 AM

No no, never screwed. ALWAYS options.:thumb: OK you say that address has been used before, correct? Look carefully at this example
used address:
Joe Bloggs
1234 Suspended Account Drive
Heart Break
CH 99 L8
new address
Jonathan Balls
Aprt 12, 1234 Suspended Account Drive
CH 99 L8

See what I've done? The phone number is great if clean. Any problems pm me if you want:peace:
