Phone number got declined on checks?

So i just joined paypal, waiting for the 2 deposits to go to my bank acc

and it asked for my phone number, pressed submit and now its saying that it couldnt complete the phone process as the info didnt match or something like that

and now is asking for more info on me for my credit/debit card number details

why didnt the phone work? it was a clean number and didnt even ring it

oompaloompa 06-05-2010 03:53 PM

is the address accessible?

did you get any error message, eg. number doesnt match their database type message

were you dong the lift limits location verification?

craigle 06-06-2010 03:55 AM

yes yes and yes

oompaloompa 06-06-2010 03:58 AM

ok the code will go to address, give it up to 3 weeks

you say clean number - what type was it voip or real landline for that address or some other type - clarify

craigle 06-06-2010 04:16 AM

Basically its my in laws phone landline, but the address is a diffrent version of where i live

oompaloompa 06-06-2010 04:28 AM

ok, so the they maybe arent close enough for paypals liking...

paypal has been so tricky with this that an accessible address is recommended, so youve got a safety net

craigle 06-06-2010 04:41 AM

Hi there

my address is only 10 mins away from my inlaws

same city etc

oompaloompa 06-06-2010 04:48 AM

nope, on the forum it says over and over, close match, same postcode/road is best...

I know people move around with their numbers within area, there is no reason to it but anyway youll get your code eventually

craigle 06-06-2010 06:17 AM

oh ok so they will just post me the code? seems all they want now is my credit/debit card details

it doesnt mention in the stealth book that it has to be the same road

GreenBean 06-06-2010 06:28 AM

@craigle, tbh, it doesnt have to be the same road.that could be too too hard to do (& possibly dangerous for a new stealth account)
paypal just throw this at users unexpectedly:boink:

Have you thought of phoning them to see what they might do?:pop2:

craigle 06-07-2010 01:46 AM

There not asking for any phone info anymore, that field has gone

just asking for debit/credit details which i am waiting for in the post

oompaloompa 06-07-2010 02:46 AM

why phone? the code is going to address, I wouldnt draw attention to yourself...

craigle 06-07-2010 12:16 PM

no what im saying is that there is nowhere to enter the code, they arnt asking for a code to be inputed

just want debit card details

Stigger 08-09-2010 03:13 PM

opps

Wrong thread

vokonta 08-10-2010 03:12 AM

I suspect PP is carrying out random checks with phone verification cos i think i read somewhere on one of their numerous literature on their site (hope i read correctly) that they can also verify your address by checking your house phone number against the one registered with your card. i.e. similar to checking postcode/billing address.
Dont know how easy this is!
