Need New Phone Number

I know there have been many threads on this subject, but am aware that ebay sytems are changing all the time. What is the best way now to obtain a new phone number for veryfying a new ebay account? Any help please. Am one step away from opening new account.
Have been reading eBay Stealth and I just want to say it is brilliant!!

You can get a new phone line from BT, but it can cost £121.
Or one from TalkTalk which I think is cheaper.
Both require you to stay with them for 12 months.

I've found citynumbers to be brilliant and use them for all my stealth accounts. You buy a virtual number and the calls from ebay can get forwarded to your mobile without ebay knowning anything about it, it's cheap enough as well.

0800 numbers 0845 numbers 0844 numbers & 0871 phone numbers

Don't you guys have disposable cell phones over there? They usually sell the cheap with like 20 minutes and 60 days activation. and then have to by a card to ad minutes.

jayne.w1 06-12-2010 02:37 PM

Thanks for your replies. I have just ordered a new virtual number from citynumbers. Looks a great company. Thanks for that tip - certainly looks easy and cheap enough. Once again thanks for help.
3rd rock from sun - have you created all your stealth accounts yourself? Have you had success with them in UK? Would certainly like to get more tips from yourself when needed.

Does tossabledigits.com forward calls to an indian number ?

jayne.w1 06-14-2010 12:26 AM

I think they can forward a number to any country. If you go to the site it lists all the countries.

The best & most simple option for phone verification is to use soho 66 voice over ip. This gives you a geographical number for £2.35, very easy to set up and use & most importantly verify

Any probs let me know

Richard

ets 02-09-2011 12:43 PM

i've been trying unsuccessfully to buy telephone numbers from tossable digits but it keeps declining my card which has money on it. Am i doing something wrong?

imprezawrx 02-10-2011 03:27 AM

never had a problem with voipfone or soho

pidge90 02-10-2011 10:04 AM

One i use every time is sipgate. You can get a good landline number in any area code. Such as 01752 which is plymouth. It doesnt matter where you live, you can get a local number and this is what you need to verify on paypal because this makes them think if you say your in plymouth and your number 01752 then they believe it! Also these numbers can be easily forwarded to your mobile phone and eb or pp never even have a clue! Message me if you need help. Thanks

isitworththestress 02-10-2011 03:07 PM

I'm with pidge90 and use sipgate, but make sure you go to the sipgate dot co dot Uk as the dot com will not work for the UK users.

Also figured you can just use a new email for a new account rather than buying more numbers from them.

I have yet to add any money into any of them, as other than the ebay four digits and checking it for buyers answer messages, which there has been none, then I have not had to use it for anything else like actual call forwarding.

hi i need some help re the telephone system as i need to verify my stealth accounts.. how do i go about it thanks

irishman 02-11-2011 12:50 PM

Does any geographical telephone number work even if it is a voip number?

thanks

Imakemoney 02-12-2011 04:35 PM

I use TTNC. You can get a geographical number anywhere in the UK and can link it to either a mobile or a home phone. Also you can edit what number you have it linked to at any time.

but you failed to answer the all important question, Whats it cost bud ?

Imakemoney 02-12-2011 08:38 PM

TizWoz are you asking me sorry?
It costs £25.00 per number but currently they are running an offer where you can get 2 numbers for £25.00. It may be steep but i believe avoids all the hassle of using the other providers...
with these other providers is it easy to switch the number in which the calls are diverted to for example?

ets 02-14-2011 07:12 PM

guys i have been on the phone all week with city numbers, soho66, tossable digits.. and the best one is soho66. Citynumbers told me that paypal system can now identify that its a virtual number.. I've since signed up with soho66 and everything works fine. You can purchase bulk numbers as well

ets 02-14-2011 07:26 PM

By the way soho66 numbers cost only £2. For bulk numbers of 5 you pay £9. You can top up minimum £5 to redirect your calls to mobile or landline (cheaper). Hope this helps

Imakemoney 02-15-2011 06:04 AM

ive not really looked at soho 66, is the interface easy to use? and dont you need another programme along with it to receive the calls?
thanks

ets 02-15-2011 11:53 AM

well the site is not that easy to understand in lay man terms but I called them.. If you want a single number just click on single voip and you register. you choose your number and you load money on. Its that easy. i use this number just for paypal verification. You don't need any other programs if its just for the phone call. i bought 6 numbers from them plus a top up of £5 all under £20. Rerouted the number tomy landline and it works. I asked someone to call me on one number and it works fine.. all my heartache are solved!

Imakemoney 02-16-2011 06:13 AM

but is this mobile number permanatly routed to your actualy phone so you can take calls from paypal/ebay if they want to get in touch? Or is it only good for one time verification?

ets 02-16-2011 04:27 PM

hi its not a mobile number you get an actual telephone number for the location that you choose. you can forward the calls to any landline or mobile number and it can be used for paypal/ebay verification. if you want to cancel the services after that its up to you or you can keep it running.. thanks

bicawi 02-27-2011 09:10 AM

Hi ETS

What is the ongoing monthly costs that you have to pay?

Thanks

Azabon 02-27-2011 07:00 PM

Try Net Telco - there are no monthly costs and the set up rate is lower too.

It works out at £4 per number (for 3 free numbers with min £12 top up) and that is all you have to pay unless ebay call you non-stop.

Also there is another I used - Localphone I think which is 75p set up and then 75p per month.

Saves a lot in the long term

Azabon 02-27-2011 07:03 PM

Also this thread will tell you how to get FREE UK numbers using VOIP:

FREE UK geographical landline number for your PC - Bargain Basement

Hope this helps
