Phone Verification - VOIP Phones ?
 

Hi everyone!

This seems to be a common question but a lot of the posts I have read seem a little outdated or confusing, Please can someone let me know if its possible to use VOIP phone numbers for eBay and Paypal account verification purposes? I am aware of Soho66 and Sipgate which people have mentioned work but is this still correct? I am able to choose geographically correct dialing codes but i dont want to mess up my stealth account applications by using the wrong service. Please help clarify this for me someone!

it very much depends on the number format. a seller account will take any voip number, as long as the code is landline format

paypal verification needs landline format code, but rest of number needs a close match to the street address and so watch which number you choose, some voips may have code match but rest of number is voip format and doesnt correspond to a real street number.

Well I tried using the free Sipgate landline number they supplied me to verify my eBay and paypal account and after a bit of tinkering with the softphone interface (at first I couldnt hear the sound) it worked and my account is verified. I launched my first eBay 'Stealth' account auction last night - yippee! Now I will see what happens over the coming weeks. I still have to fuly verify my paypal account using the bank account etc but if all goes well I am sorted out now. Thanks to everyone on this forum who has helped me out with tips and advice, after losing your business to eBay / Paypal and been skint for months its a relief to know there is another way to get back trading even when your name has been dragged through the mud for no good reason. Now I can start building back up my business and getting my life back together. For one my wife is extremely happy, but so am I just knowing that there is some purpose to the day and that I am earning money again. I never bought the eBay stealth guide but its taken me months of wading through the forums to get the same results, I would strongly advise that if you can afford to buy it, then buy it as it will save you a lot of time and stress.

no ebay do not accept voip - i have tried it twice. you will need to buy an additional geographic land line number

all virtual numbers are hit and miss it mainly works with ebay but less likely with paypal which means it useless unless you can verify both, it you have bt get a virgin number £11 a month line rental and get the basic package free, plus you can change the number as many times as you like if you get linked again, there is another option one is a company called planet numbers plus if you search hard enough you will find companies where you can get a months trial with a telephone number diversion, but in the long run and for ease i found an extra landline in my home better
