| | | | | mcnig | 07-20-2010 05:01 AM | Police/Office of Fair Trading? Hi All,
So I used to sell MS Keys.
Had someone message me, telling me there key has stopped working and has been blocked.
I told him I would look into it.
His reply..
There is not a lot to look into, Microsoft have blocked the key. I
cannot understand why you have to take so long to look into it. I
will not communicate via external email....I will of course talk
through ebay where I made the purchase. I shall again ask you
one final time to provide me a key that works and "legal"
Answer me this please...Does an MSDN subscription allow you to
sell me a key...as this appears to be why I have a problem
according to Microsoft. Im not going to ask again and should I
not hear from you within a reasonable time period, I shall
contact ebay who have suggested I take the matter to the
Police/Office of Fair Trading to resolve, should communication
between you and I not reach a successful conclusion. This is a
bit drastic, but im a person of principal. Thank You My Question
Is he lying? I have had no other queries from previous customers. Also, would Ebay advise to contact the Police? or Office Of Fair Trading?
What should I do? Can he do anything? As I really feel he may be lying. |
You're asking for legal advice....not the best forum ha.
That said, weigh your options - chances are good he's lying - lot of talk from people - all depends on amount involved.
Did he pay by Paypal? Chances are good you are out if puts in a claim. If he puts the claim through eBay, they will also likely refund him and claim against you.
How much was the sale? Plays a big part.
So many questions - refund him or give him a new key. That's the problem with dealing with digital stuff on eBay. |
| forummember | 07-20-2010 10:12 AM | I've encountered problems like this in the past. The Office or Fair Trading will not act on one report, so in that sense your okay and the likelihood of Police involvement is minimal. Although, if he does contact Trading Standards and they did on chance happen to look in to your dealings, the aggravation that you will get from it will be too much. I myself don't like losing money, and understand the annoyance of having to refund someone, but in this situation I would issue a full refund. Basically you are buying yourself more time on eBay by doing this and you don't want to draw unnecessary attention on to your account.
Check this person out, their name, address, place of work (123people), social networking accounts etc.
Anyway, I hope my advice helped and if you need any more please don't hesitate to drop me a PM. |
Fools. MS Keys are not to be sold. Legitimate (ie, COA) or not.
If buyer bought a key sent to him via email what is he expecting. |
| paypalpains | 07-26-2010 04:56 PM | Just refund him, and make some crap up as to why you cannot resolve his problem |
| Stigger | 07-26-2010 06:24 PM | keep them talking
in the way a politicians never answers questions
also miss one or two responses in between so he has to resend, don't respond straight away leave it a a day or so -slow down the whole process so they get fed up
how much they spent usually determines how long they last
i get about an 80% strike rate with that bull
dint be bothered by the threat
and just so you know some genuine cooperate keys are been detected by wga as non genuine , i was reading some posts on it a while back when learning how to disable Wga |

What should I do? Can he do anything? As I really feel he may be lying. | Were you stealth or ebay is under your real name.If it was your real name, I would highly recommend, don't get involved in these things and refund to resolve the issue. but if you were stealth then let him stew Nothing much can be done about it.Just stop using the account.
police wouldn't get involved unless a company like Microsoft pushes or if it's a matter of lot of money, I dont think in your case it would be in tens of thousands.. |
| slapped | 08-25-2010 09:57 AM | Just Refund the Money, Get him OUT of your Life and MOVE on,,,,and for your own Knowledge Microsoft MSDN Keys CANNOT Be Sold, and at Some point ALL Sold Keys will be BLOCKED!!! I Know that the Temptation is great because of the Potential Profit, But the FACT Remains that Selling Bootleg Software in ANY FLAVOR is Dangerous and FULL Of Problems,,If it wasn't, Do you Know how many Millionaires would be on this forum?,,,You Are NOT the only one who can get these "Keys" they are EASY to get,,and Cheap,,and there is a Reason for that,,,Do you think that if the Keys were Foolproof that your supplier would sell them to you????,,,,If you do you are a Fool,,,, |
Slapped's honesty is the truth - and so logically written. |
| chknlollypop101 | 08-25-2010 06:36 PM | Refund immediately...take the sour pill.... |
| digitalslave | 08-26-2010 02:10 AM | I sold a coa to someone, he tried to say it didnt work.
Right on day 44 he put a claim in to PayPal. He told them he never got it.
Account was in my real name, so I took the hit.
2 days later, he left neg feedback saying it was ⊗⊗⊗⊗!
I had smoke coming out of my ears! |
| teedon | 08-26-2010 03:28 AM | refund is a good choise as your customer have paid for working software |
| bigmac | 08-26-2010 12:37 PM | Hi i sold a rosetta stone to a guy in Utah on a completely stealth account but didn't change the name on the fedex label so he has my real name and address. i sold it for 300$ he said it didnt work and i refunded him but he said he was going to call my local rcmp and us homeland security because he believes i am funding a terriost organization which i obviously am not i sold 5 of them only one compliant do you think the rcmp will investigate i did refund him within a day of his complaint. |
Well well well...a canadian compadre ha.
I sincerely doubt RCMP getting their hands tied into this - this buyer is just using words. Best not to dabble in this AND moreso avoid using real contact info. You did the refund? You are ok - sold on ebay or amazon? |
| bigmac | 08-26-2010 03:37 PM | i did refund him almost right away and it was on ebay | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:42 PM. | |
