No as it does not accept the direct debit agreement

natwest offers a current account with no credit checks, there is no overdraft but you get a visa debit card and can have DD's, you need to apply in bank with id but once that is done you can then use internet banking too, hope it helps

Stigger 10-11-2010 11:28 AM

Since when, as far as i know Nat west are doing credit checks and its coming from a reliable source, do you know something i don't ?

whatnow 10-12-2010 04:28 AM

natwest basic step account, i know coz i had one, you will start with no overdraft, only a solo card, after 9 months of running the account well your card will be ungraded to a visa debit, once the account has been set up for you in the bank you can start to use internet banking, every bank by law has to offer an account that can be used by people with very bad credit scores, this is the one that they offer.

Stigger 10-12-2010 11:11 AM

Sorry maybe i wasn't clear, i meant how do you know they are not doing credit checks ?

whatnow 10-12-2010 12:42 PM

just from my own experience, when i opened my account i explained to them that at that time i wouldnt have passed one, they opened this ac for me for that reason, i know a few other people who have since had one for the same reason, this account must be opened in bank with id tho

I suppose the next question would be for those who sell VERO. As our accounts get limited quite quickly, within 6 months usually, how do we go about getting more bank accounts?

With santander ive had 11 current accounts over the past 1.5 years. Im on my 12th card now and some staff usually start asking questions and get suspicious. I was once refused an account but then allowed one some months later. Ive santander to be the most leninent. Banks such as lloyds refused more than 2 current accounts and same goes with natwest and barclays and hsbc. Co-op and smile have refused me every time and i dont bother with then anymore. im starting to worry that my options will be limited soon :(

Did you actually read the whole thread ?and the stealth guide for that matter ?

the last two questions i have see you post lead me to believe not, maybe you should do some more reading of both.

I'm not having a pop but the questions you are asking are very basic one's and have been answered

Yeah Ive read the stealthguide and the entire thread ... am i missing someting so blatantly obvious??? Please enlighten me...

oompaloompa 10-16-2010 02:45 PM

there are banks that dont do credit checks but they arent free, cant remember the names now, but they have been mentioned on posts, these are costly but good for people who cannot get bank accounts anymore. If you are kicked off paypal, shut that bank, it should help a bit with approvals

Legally, no-one can do a credit check on you without specifically asking for your permission first so you will know whether or not a bank is doing a credit check on you.

This legal requirement is important, because your credit rating is adversely affected by too many credit checks.

i know that , and nearly all will state thats they do and will ask if that o.k dosent mean to say they do at the time, i know some banks at the moment that are not doing them even though they will tell you they are.

i know of certin a bank at the moment that are not doing them but i have this information from a reliable source IE : the accounts manager at a local branch that i have known for years.

GreenBean 10-16-2010 06:35 PM

Tiz,
Double check with your reliable source as to his definition of credit check. There are two types. Find out from him exactly what he means. Then come back and post your findings. The answer will make a lot of difference.:spy:
