Why the different PayPal notification email?

Hi. I've sold quite a few items in the past couple of days. Most of the PayPal notification emails have the format:

"[item number] - Notification of an instant payment from [buyer's name]",

But one of them just says:

"Notification of payment received" and looks different to the others.

Why is this? Is this something to be concerned about? I've checked my PayPal account and the funds are in there, but why would the email be different? The buyer in question only has 5 feedback (4 as a buyer, 1 as a seller) but it's all positive. Next to their name they have a 0% positive feedback score but I assume that's because they haven't used eBay in over a year (last transaction June 09). They've been a member since 2002, but they clearly don't use eBay very often.

I have 100% feedback (162), and my DSRs are all 5/5, so it can't be a problem with me, can it? And I've received payment notifications after that one, and they all have the usual format. It's only that one notification that's different.

I really don't know what to do??? The item costs £70, which I can't afford to lose.

I think this one "[item number] - Notification of an instant payment from [buyer's name]" is issued when the funds come from the buyers actual paypal balance, and this one "Notification of payment received" is when the funds come from a cc via paypal, not 100% as I dont often check the email accounts associated with the paypals.

The notification of Payment received email, comes when the buyer checks out through eBay as a guest, without creating an actual paypal account. Usually new buyers.

Ah, okay, that would make sense. I was told that it might be that the buyer paid directly from his paypal account, but I thought it seemed like a bit of a convoluted way to pay.

Thanks a lot,
- Dan

As long as money is there, nothing to worry about. I suspect the sender sent funds directly to your PP email address and didn't use the eBay checkout.

Agreed! I get the different emails from time to time... something to do with the way they check out or pay the funds... but definately nothing to worry about.
