Default Geo location

How important is your geo location with regards to the registerd address of your paypal account, of course you should be in the same country but what about the same town?

does it matter if your geo location is say 60 miles away?

its not a big deal, there are reasons geo location can be different, one is people travel for work etc or registered address may be different to where you are located for legit reasons. You can have home address in one town and work in another 50 miles away.

They accept seller account phone number verification from any number in that country too, no matter where in the country the account is registered, no flags.
I would say though geo location has gotten much closer, to real location in last year Ive noticed, especially using mobile IP. Its those darn masts.

maybe its me and I'm fussy but i would like to stick close to the location that i registered, as you say they are genuine reasons that people would travel, i know i used to travel about 170 miles round trip to work every day.

60 miles. 600 miles. It's not relevant as long as it's the same country. My broadband connections pop up IP addresses all over the place, plus the geo location you see assigned on those sites is never accurate - I'll bet if you go to another site it'll give you a different location. All it can really say is what company owns the IP address - hence, what country it's from.

I would recommend having the IP show up reasonably close.

eBay, as far as I know, does not check for this. YET.

But Amazon DOES.

In any event, you want to make your stealth accounts blend in as much as possible. Don't give them any reasons to scrutinize the account. If the only possibility for you is to have an IP 100 miles from home, then go ahead and do it. But if you can use another provider, or whatever, that would be better.

It is not just what they are looking for TODAY that counts. I always try to anticipate - as much as is reasonably possible - what they may be looking at TOMORROW.

Agree with jeffweico - for ebay, as long as the area code is ok I would say no problem. Amazon is another game altogether.
