Account linked from similiar eBay username?

Hi,

I have just done something really stupid.

I created an eBay account which includes the word gadgets.

Both my 2 previously suspended ebay account usernames had this word in them, does this mean that my account will now be linked?

I have gone to a lot of trouble to set these accounts up and completely forgot that this word was in my other usernames. Will I have to start all over again now?? Or is there a way i can rectify the situation?

Thanks

It should be ok, you can change it though in the "Account" area. Generally ebay won't check keywords from past usernames when reviewing your account. I know this from experience. And they probably won't even check that kind of stuff if you keep the username - gadgets is so common, I wouldn't worry about it.

If you are selling the same items in a small, closely watched category it may raise suspicions.

It really depends on how similar the info is on the accounts, if they are completely different then I doubt there will be an issue.

Lots is going to depend on how well you have made yourself stealth.

Similar name, same items, same photos, same wording in listings is more than enough to link on a manual review. If you've made the accounts in the same area, then even more chance. BUT:
if it's only the name and you are able to make everything look like a different person, you might be OK. Let us know what you are going to do with listings etc....

How could you forget something so important like a name? :tears:
LINK is a dirty word, never forget that.

Hi,

Well I sell mostly branded electronics, and the listings I intend on being unique in comparison to the old account.

Everything is completely new on the account. The only other slight similiarity is that my surname is the same other than a spelling variation, but 1st name is different.

Do you think it's worth closin my ebay account and opening a new one with different name?

Will this be a waste of time if the account is already linked to my paypal accout?

Shouldn't be a major problem but they can still link you if the username is almost identical.
