UK Bank Account Question

If I wanted to change my bank account number, (due to the fact paypal suspended the account) do you call the bank and ask that someone stole my checkbook and they issue you with a new bank account or is there another way?

i just tell them i have split with my ex partner who's a bit of a nutter
Anyhow she as all my banking details and i would like a new account as i cannot trust her at all.

i would go into the bank, they have all ways done it there and then for me.

Yeah, I say I have been using an unsecured VPN connection and suspect someone has been spying on my internet activities.

Other reasons:
-Laptop got stolen
-Purchased something from an untrustworthy website
-Someone has been giving your account number to everyone
-Someone made your account number public
-You have been learning memorization techniques and it just so happens that the account number is your username on a lot of webiste and is confusing when recalling it.
-Privacy/Security reasons.
-It's time for a change
