Customs Investigating

So MY DHL tracking said I need to contact them which I did do..

They tell me my parcel is being investigated by customs...

There are 100 pieces with a RRP of £80 each.

What should I expect to happen?

menaice 03-16-2011 08:55 AM

Well you lost your package, consider it gone. If anything does happen just say you where searching google for wholesalers and bought it. You didn't know anything about it being "questionable" :pop2:

Never use DHL

teedon 03-16-2011 09:39 AM

You just need to waiting for update ,and you may get chance to get the package back or lost it .Learn the lesson and do better next time.

yotano211 03-16-2011 12:13 PM

I seem to get more customs investigations with them vs using EMS. Yea try not to use DHL, they might be a lot faster then EMS but I dont mind waiting a few more days for a package from china.

eternity4u 03-16-2011 05:36 PM

No problems with DHL. EMS is to slow then Parcel Force handles it which you pay £13 fee for them to handle it, on top of that you pay customs fee. I stick to DHL because nice and fast and helpful.

Gman91189 03-16-2011 08:52 PM

i had a pretty small package inspected by customs, i thought it was lost when it went into customs, But i was still able to get it a couple days later, i prolly just got lucky, im guessing customs is just a casse of luck i guess, but at the same time that was the first time that ever happend....

Alps_a somewhatlegend 03-16-2011 10:47 PM

I cant see there being a problem as long as they are legit and I dont understand why people are saying its gone before they know the whole story.

Customs are probaly checking them out, making sure they are legit and making sure you didn't hide some kinda drugs in there or that you havn't hidden a person in the box etc.

Its only a short delay and they should release them as long as you didnt hide any coke in there! - you buyer will receive item with a customs inspection sticker - maybe provide standard customer service and comtact your buyer to let them know of the delay.

Don't worry Amir, its early days - they will hold for at least a week if not more

ya ur prolly right i doubt they'll go through the package looking for a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ coach bag or counterfeit dvds they'd be backed up for months!
doubt they stress small things like that they're trying to get big things like its been said.. drugs, high illegal activity and i doubt THEY could REALLY tell with 100% if the items are ⊗⊗⊗⊗ or not

funy i got mines inspected by customs, but never got any type of sticker or anything(again only got inspected once)

GTB 04-04-2011 05:12 PM

hey guys,i got my parcel seized by customs a few days ago.............
it says on parcelforce tracking
awaiting customs clearance then at the same date and time
released for uk processing & handed over to customs
and the status is delivered
i rang parcelforce and they said it has been seized.......
does this mean its definetly gone or i may still get it,
gutted
thanks

shah 04-04-2011 05:33 PM

oh man, that sucks.
the quantity must've been too large maybe,
what do you think what could've been the reason?

jeffweico 04-04-2011 05:36 PM

The bottom line is, if your package is inspected by customs, and it contains legitimate merchandise, it will be delayed, but you will still get the package.

If it contains counterfeit merchandise, drugs, or anything else not allowed in your country, it is most likely gone. If you are dealing with that type of stuff, it is a risk you take.

MR GTB, I have used parcelfarce recently a lot and have not had a seizure yet.

How much quantity did you order to attract their attention?

No need for specifics, but was it large, heavy and/or valuable?

Smaller.packages are good fo passing through ok. Let me know?

shah 04-04-2011 07:08 PM

OP said it was 100pcs.
80 quid a piece.

That is NOT the Way it works at all,,,

Package inspections have NOTHING at all to do with size or anything else it is Completely Randon,,

For Example, when DHL is Moving Normally, EVERY Package goes through an Electronic Scanner, but 1 out of Lets say every 100 Packages, gets a Full Open Box Go Through EVERYTHING in it inspection, and Believe Me Customs Knows EVERY Counterfeit Product out there.

Sometimes when DHL is running Slowly it is because Customs "Steps things Up" and inspects say 1 out of 50 Packages Fully.

Then there are the Infamous "Crackdowns" when DHL Just STOPS Completely and EVERYTHING gets inspected, like when the Gun was found earlier this Year, Remember that?

ets 04-05-2011 03:06 PM

also if you order frequently using the same address information, that in itself triggers customs inspection BEWARE!

GTB 04-11-2011 02:08 PM

yup,i was using the same address often,
sorry for the delay BTW guys!
yeah it was one of two parcels ordered at the same time,
i got one and the other seemed to lag, then customs took it.
it was a about dozen shirts and a few trainers,
must of been highlighted due to parcels been sent to the same address, bear in mind it was only like one a month, but then it was two in a row,
hope this helps someone! then some good will of come from it
i only lost about 170 quid but that could of been doubled:-(
the goods were foo foo,
i got a letter recently from customs askin to destroy the footwear,i aint agreeing to it coz it makes no difference, they will destroy em anyways, hope i get the shirts though, what do you guys think?

Imakemoney 04-11-2011 02:20 PM

sorry not willing to help someone selling f a k e goods.

People selling f a k e s make it harder for the rest of us to operate on ebay.

ShadyOne 04-18-2011 11:27 AM

@MR GTB, if your items gets seized at customs and you know they a fa kes, then it is best to forget about them and change your delivery address.

Addresses get blacklisted once goods being delivered to them have been seized.

:peace:

Outside chance of getting the shirts. Might be dependent on the value of them.
Customs could release them or there's already someone walking around wearing one of your shirts. :juggle:

Ive had a parcel stuck in DHL customs for over 3 weeks, eventually i got the right person on the phone who told me they needed invoices (which i made myself) so that they could clear the parcel through to me... if you leave it past 21 days they usually return it to the sender.

You cannot just keep checking the tracking number and because it says *awaiting clearance** then leave it, you actually have to call someone to locate where the damn thing is lol

GTB 10-01-2011 08:20 PM

after 5 working days you want to be calling to see if there is a problem

awaiting customs clearance normally takes about 24-48 hours then the parcel is released for local delivery

after 4-5 days you should contact the courier and say "wtf is the hold up mayn":noidea:

;) that's exactly what you should say too "wtf is the hold up mayn"

you need to sound professional lol

forummember 10-03-2011 11:50 AM

I would advise not to sign any correspondence you get from both the company involved in collaboration with Customs and Customs themselves. You will be admitting liability for the parcel.

Most of the letters will be sent via recorded delivery, avoid signing for them too.

At the end of the day... if you are importing prohibited items then eventually either you will get flagged or the senders address will get flagged and they will look in the parcel. Sometimes it is just luck of the draw.

If anyone needs advice regarding such situations PM' me and I can give you a few pointers.

Amir K 01-01-2013 06:20 PM

My item came over a month after being in customs, the package had not been opened.

GreenBean 01-01-2013 06:33 PM

A happy result to end the thread
