Does address have to be real on eBay?
 

I havn't tried it yet but does it matter if the address you registered on eBay is not real. By this is simply mean that my street door numbers go from 1-21 and then 25 and 29?! lol

Well my address is number 2 and I thought what would happend if I registered my address as 22 becuase it could seem like a mistake but what would eBay do?

Only asking because not only would it be different to the address of my actual house and suspended address but a lot of return mail will actually make it to my address.

no in theory the door number does not have to be real, the street and postcode does. best to use a house name or use unit 2, test it with a letter, it will probably get there.

no point using 22 as firstly it doesnt exist and secondly whats the point, you cant get mail to it...if it is going to be on your street you may as well receive the mail.

I realised that you would actually have to use your real name on eBay with the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address and probably need to have other mail being delivered to your real address on the street at the same time as the returns for this to work.

Royal Mail would match 'joe bloggs 22 something street'(doesn't exists) with other mail addressed 'joe bloggs 2 something street' (does exist).

But going back to my question, what happens if you register a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ door number but everything else correct on eBay? Would bots notice that address does not exists? eBay wouldn't ask for proof of address would they!? lol

royal mail wont necessarily match your name with 22 instead of 2, not guaranteed. do several letter tests and see....

would bots notice a number that does not exist? we cant say catagorically, they are always updating their systems, whilst I doubt it, there is a chance their system is loaded with address software, similar to the info that is out there online eg electoral search , where you type in your address and you see all your neighbours details too, and a scroll down on all the door numbers.
