Best 3G Dongle out there?

I give up on trying to change my MAC address i'm completely incompetent at changing it.

Anyways whats the cheapest Dongle priceplan around? Not looking for that much data as it will only be used to log onto ebay a few times before i use auctiva.

Thanks, what do you use?

ShadyOne 04-11-2011 05:40 AM

I would like to know what the majority of the stealth community members use for their dongle as well please?

i use metro pcs Samsung galaxy 4g, it can be used as hotspot as well. and connecting with that, its faster then my home ATT internet... blazing fast crazy stupid speed..

thats what i use, pay 50.00 a month unlimited everything, phone plus internet tha'ts unlimited tethering for 50.00 monthly, thats a great deal......

Sorry, i know its not dongle but this is an option, and i will guarentee you, its faster then home internet...

unkown5454 04-11-2011 10:44 AM

They are in UK, but the idea of unlocked phones with hotspot capabilities and 3G dongles/MiFi boxes are the best bet. Just find the cheapest one with unlimited data or at least 5GB/month.

Themightycrow 04-11-2011 01:41 PM

In the UK but thanks for that im sure some others will find it helpfull Share.

If i Jailbreak my Iphone4 can i use it as a hotspot? I would hardly use any data anyways

unkown5454 04-12-2011 02:40 AM

Yes you can. AT&T in the USA has started forcing people with jailbroken iPhones to add hotspot data plans, but that's the only downfall I've seen so far. Everywhere else is pretty open still. It works great and 3G speeds are more than enough for typical eB ay and Pa yP al work. Unless you are uploading hundreds of pictures, but most people just selfhost those elsewhere anyways.

I live in the UK and found that the 3G dongle from THREE is the best. I pay £10 per month (PAYG) and that gives me around 6 hours per day of using ebay. The signal is good all around the UK.

forummember 04-13-2011 04:23 PM

THREE is the best.

santa1 04-16-2011 09:36 AM

yes 3 is the best on every log out and log in you'll get new IP so yes definitely 3

sax4 04-16-2011 09:42 AM

I've tried a few dongles so far, the best I have found is Zte MF112 that I got from 3. Also you can get 1gb sims on Amazon for less than £4

jjjia 05-30-2011 08:17 PM

if i use my phone as a modem with my mobile internet subscription, do i get a different IP every time i reset/log in?

Imakemoney 06-02-2011 01:10 PM

You dont need to worry about your mac address with ebay.

MAC address is not a worry for eBay.

It will NOT give you a new MAC address either.

You would need spoofing software for that.

SMAC etc.

If you have a smartphone with a built in modem (most do) then Giff Gaff is where its at!

I use my smartphone as the modem, connect to pc via usb, Giff Gaff £10 top up give you unlimited internet / 300 minutes / unlimited texts, its only about 1 meg broadband but fast enough for eBay / surfing etc. Strictly speaking tethering your pc/laptop to your mobile to get mobile internet is not allowed but as long as you dont go mad with your downloading they cant tell that you are doing it!

To get a SIM with £5 free credit when you top up £5 go to:

www.gg-sim.co.uk/johnnyleedsuk

Its the best mobile deal I ever had! Basically it works out as 4p per minute plus free to call other Giff Gaff phones and 0800 numbers, also there is NO MINIMUM CALL CHARGE!

How cool is that?!

slapped 06-05-2011 10:12 PM

Get an UNLOCKED Modem if you Do NOT have a Phone that offers a Hotspot,,Then all you have to do is Take your cell phones SIM Card out and put it in the Modem and use your cell phones Data Plan instead of Paying for another one. take
a Look at Model 4590 and 4595 here:

What app do u use and is it jailbroken?

NoneOther 02-20-2013 11:39 AM

Most Android phones running ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) or Jellybean have wifi hotspot, bluetooth and usb tethering already built in to the OS as does IOS for iphone if your carrier allows it otherwise it needs to be jailbroken and there are numerous apps available through Cydia to allow hotspot or tethering.

stevebills 02-20-2013 03:32 PM

just tried mywi works a treat but slowish

NoneOther 02-20-2013 04:15 PM

It's not the app that slow, more likely to be your connection.

Try Tether Me, much better

Re: Best 3G Dongle out there?

I have the e3231 modem by huawei. It's very fast indeed.

slapped 02-20-2013 10:27 PM

Any dongle is only as fast as the network it connects to

Only to a certain degree. Some USB dongles work better than others, especially the newer ones.

NoneOther 02-21-2013 03:28 AM

Slapped is correct

While a dongle may be capable of connecting at high speed e.g 21 mbps if the network speed is a max of 7 mbps then that is what it's max connection speed will be.

Location and cell tower signal strength can also have an effect on the efficiency of mobile broadband connection speeds

SimpleX 02-21-2013 06:24 AM

Thats why I said only to a certain degree, as if you have a dongle only capable of 3Mbps and the network supports up to 7Mbps, having a better dongle is gonna pay dividends. Many of the cheap and easily available dongles today are quite slow.

Better to choose the best network in your area, and then choosing a dongle that can support it, which many of the newer ones can.

If you really want the best, look for a network that supports dc-hsdpa+ and then find dongle that has dc-hsdpa+ too.

Killuminati 02-21-2013 08:42 AM

If you want a better signal you should use a male to female wire connected to your dongle around 3 meters it acts like aerial and you can hang it near the ceiling or for best results near a window

The signal is usually better if you are upstairs

Only 3 currently support dc-hsdpa+ and that only covers about 50% of the UK population.

If your going to go that route you are best to wait for 4G which with 3 will cost exactly the same as their current data plans. All the other networks are going to hike their prices as per EE

SimpleX 02-21-2013 11:13 AM

But if you want a solution for now, and Three covers your area for dc-hsdpa+, then thats an option available to you.
