| | | | | mcnig | 04-17-2011 11:56 AM | Selling digital products... I had a listing removed earlier as it was the sale of a digital product.
I've seen since that people selling a similiar item seem to get round this by offering a product with the digital item.
For instance: DUST + FIFA 11 ULTIMATE TEAM COINS (50,000) XBOX 360 | eBay UK Pen + FIFA 11 Ultimate Team, Easy Guide to Making Coins | eBay UK
Saying you will receive the physical product within the next 20 years and the digital item is a optional free gift.
Does this bypass and will stop the item from being taken down?
I was going to list my item with the following description: You are bidding on a bottle of air, it was bottled at a local beach, I will post the item free of charge, and you will receive the physical item within 7 years of purchase.
Legit buyers only please, this air is precious and has been well cared for.
Please feel free to make an offer, and I reserve the right to remove listing as this item is listed elsewhere.
What is peoples thoughts, anyone care to share knowledge on this? |
| oompaloompa | 04-17-2011 12:30 PM | dust?
if you want to follow this method of free gift with pen, then build it in to your costs, I mean as you are mailing it, it does not violate ebay rules .... |

:suspicious:
Why? Why? Why?
What world do you people live in?
Dust and bottled air!!??
Why not just sell the pens. What are you selling the DP for, feedback? |
| oompaloompa | 04-17-2011 12:53 PM | um, maybe I want to purchase the bottle the air is in...so your 7 years is just crappy customer service.... funny, because some products, by their nature are digital, so I dont get why they are so uptheirbum about it....I mean if buyer claims they didnt get it or didnt work it is at sellers risk anyway and buyer would be refunded (as usual) |

| ^^I missed these gems  :hail:
This cannot be allowed on e bay surely.
I clicked on one of your links and the FI FA coins selling at £6.99 have sold 7 times today
I can see why you are so interested in this market now, thought I think the sale of these coins must brake some sort of copyright law.
:peace: |
| mcnig | 04-17-2011 05:07 PM | My listing was removed?
I had it listed as Pen + Fifa 11 Ultimate Team
I said the auction was for a black biro and you would receive a free gift of the ultimate team?
Why has it been took down as downloadable media if it was for the pen? |

:peace: | They dont, you earn them in game. Then people just sell them. I want to sell mine as I dont have an XBOX anymore. |

| This is not legal, you could get away with this very rarely (never on ebay), it can be found in most terms of usage on software.
I may be wrong because I do not know what 'xbox points' are and whether you are legally allowed to sell them.
:peace: |
| oompaloompa | 04-18-2011 06:37 AM | I dont get the whole xbox thing but the OP is asking why are others getting away with it, answer is they will prb go down eventually for it, but they have stronger accounts right now so they are allowed more hits maybe, anyhow, you are not earning big bucks so why bother if its this much hassle. |
@mcnig, I don't want to seem arrogant but you are unlikely to find people openly posting about their business (if successful). Best for you to keep trying - see what works and try. Wish I could be of more help (and less a$$hole-like) but not much more to say.
Don't keep trying on the same account. |
| Shellshocker | 04-22-2011 11:28 AM | I use to sell these Digital Products (Microsoft Points), and offer a them free with a actual product (a Pen in my case).
I can't tell you, you can offer a Coins, Books, Cables, Speaker Systems, TV's or Crack Cocaine, they are still gonna remove it for "Downloadable Media" because they aren't stupid. BUT if you don't mind losing the account, can relist, usually they don't take it down for a few days/hours so can sell a few before than. BUT I find they remove them after the sale has ended too hahahah? So it doesn't show in your Sold, but you keep the money in Paypal, so you've sold.
My advice is, DO IT if you don't mind losing an account. When I sold MS Points, I made KILLING! I not only sold loads with a decent profit but got some regular customers over MSN (Give out a way to contact you) and they come and pay you straight into Paypal, saving on fees! It was great. But it kinda died. |
| oompaloompa | 04-22-2011 11:44 AM | Ive got a virtual product, I get it for free, but it isnt an obvious one that anyone knows about unless in the business that catagory is in, but eb still asked me for proof of ownership and I got that account limited for a while, but I got it back when I said I didnt realise and was posting out stuff for it, which I literally made up out of thin air with bit of creativity and cos it was so obscure they bought it, I thought it was a good product but it was not worth much and not worth ruining accounts over, but now I give it for free to buyers of tangible product and it really helps feedback, so that is an idea, and I get emails thanking me and they will be repeat buyers, say blah blah product plus freebie but dont say what freebie is on auction.. | | All times are GMT -5.
