Depends if you goto a big post office or a local postie run by a family. I'd be more than happy to doa "flip out" in a big postie but would take the subtle approach with my family run postie...i still think its absurd that things always go missing.

another thing i remembered last night was when the postie said to me "i've always bought XXXX"
XXXX being the the exact product I sell. Must be 1/1000 odds for her to know what was in the envelopes that keep going missing...coincidence?.... now that I think about it i think ive answered my own question lol

ALPS: This guys nuts - does laps around Paris in 14 minutes

for recorded delivery, I think generally it is the postmans fault, sometimes they dont bother to get a signature, and then the buyer thinks they can get a legit freebie. I dont think generally the post office steals stuff, BUT if your experience is that the problem has been at one post office and it happens alot, I think a family run one will be worse and dodgy as they have no procedures for security amongst themselves and would cover up theft - you should report them to RM IMO.....

the nothing inside envelope really bugs me, I had only 2 of them ever, but there was no RM damaged in transit sticker or anything attached so I could not make a claim - or at least I didnt try to. The buyers made ebay claims and I won as it was recorded del and inputted tracking, I felt bad but I didnt know if they were scammers or not. Anyone put in a claim to RM for empty envelope and been paid out?

as for ebay claims, I hardly get any but Ive had issues with handing over stealth details like paypal in completely different name to mine who is the claimant, it feels unstealth-like and they might make enquiries and possibly report real name to paypal dont know, I mean you need comp cheque in real name, right? I usually just say it was a gift and give them some invoice Ive got lying around, it is more simple IMO.

I dont turn up with big sacks, but if I have a bag full they are all pre-paid so thats not a prob, but some days I might have say 10 recorded deliveries and the tutting I get from people behind me, actually passing comments...they queue up for a book of stamps, that you can get at the supermarket with your shopping, idiots...oh and guys, try it with a toddler who runs off every 2 secs and eats the sweets, I bought some reins and that was worse as we twisted round and round until we were trussed.....

cortex 04-24-2011 08:22 AM

Yeh i hate those tutters. I had one yesterday.
Heard him say "bloody parcels -whats he got so many parcels for taking up everyones time"

So I said "Are you in a rush?"
He said "Yeh I am"
So I said "Yeh? Well I'm not."

That shut him up. Cretins.

rsot 05-17-2011 02:29 PM

That's funny Cortex - had something like that happen to me when i was at the post office with 20 boxes - all ready to go, custom slips and all - just had to pay for each.

Guy made a comment like that or so - I told him I'd give him my spot but fee is $100 - he b*tched a bit and glared but whatever. I was more a$$hole than normal.

ShadyOne 05-17-2011 03:04 PM

Yeah I used to have a great postie as well!

I got a new postie and they do not like all the stuff I buy off eBay, he comes walking down the road juggling all my mail :juggle:

Littlemorestealth 05-23-2011 07:32 AM

Mate that's not paranoia, your post office are screwing you over.

I wouldn't be happy with that.

If I get asked it will be "just a few things on eBay" and a nice glare to go with it.

Luckily my post offices (I use 2) are both quick and efficent.

Its probably in their job description that they cannot ask. I'd be keeping that one to hand if I got questioned.

cortex 05-25-2011 10:17 AM

"Its probably in their job description that they cannot ask."
Dunno about that - people could post all kindsa things otherwise couldnt they?

Postman POT ... for example ;-)

GTB 05-26-2011 08:30 AM

postman pot,post man pot........

postman pot and his black and white crack pipe :)

cortex 05-26-2011 01:13 PM

............Exactly

GTB 05-26-2011 01:30 PM

Lol.......... ;)

isitworththestress 05-27-2011 05:18 AM

Use a different post office and ask the customers with the empty bags to send them back to you to make sure they are the ones you addressed and not those done by the post office or royal mail staff using their own nice free bags.

Contact Royal Mail complaints, as it may all be going through the same sorting office and could be happening there. Most mail going south of the country tend to go through the same sorting office and as you are using royal mail bags, it is not as if they could not switch them.

Don't be daft. So you think an employee of the post office has the right to ask any customer about what they are posting? Don't think so mate.

If there was grounds to reason it could be an illegal or dangerous substance, then they are likely to be advised to alert the police. But ask about a general packages? I don't think so.

ShadyOne 05-28-2011 08:42 AM

^ I have never been asked when posting inland but when sending overseas, because of customs, they will often be obliged to find out what you posting.
