What are the odds?.

Hi,

I've been my Sky Home Broadband to connect to eBay and PayPal, the broadband has been used by my mum who was suspended for non payment a while back.

I was just wondering, considering I've been changing the IP address each time I log onto eBay/PayPal, what are the odds of getting an IP address she used?.

Should I stop using the Home Broadband and move onto O2 Mobile Broadband?.

I can't use dial up, as the broadband is always needed to be switched on.

I've only just made it onto a sellers account yesterday, nothing listed yet, just been buying items.
I have been using a different laptop, user account, recently rebooted to factory settings.

IMO guessing its like a 50/50 chance.

Have you been monitoring the ranges?

You could drive yourself nuts, I know I do. I mean, before I was stealthing and keeping a record of my i.p. addresses, who is to know that the one I'm on now was used by me last year?? I don't know but by following the Stealth Guide I know that I am minimising the risk of this happening.

For info, my i.p. record file now boasts over 150 different i.p. addresses in the last month with no duplicates. As I said on a previous post, stealthing is a pain in the ass, like changing your clothes everytime you go out - if it brings the money back in it is worth the bother.

For example I can get an ip address of 97.45.12.4 and If I reboot it I can get one of 218.389.12.90.

Thats a great range difference. You shouldn't stress out over it I have had ranges as close as

108.56.125.32(This on being a Limited Account)

108.56.125.30

In the same city/state and 108.56.125.30 went smoothly!

Sounds like you're good to go just keep track of everything and if you want to be sure start a new stealth account and don't keep all your bread and butter in that one account you speak of

ShadyOne 05-04-2011 04:49 PM

Using the same IP address will usually not result in a suspention, as long as all your other info is ok and none is linked to the suspended account.

Also, why do you change your IP everytime you log into your eBay/PayPal account. I take it this is because you are using multiple accounts?

Also you say you have been buying items, does this mean you are using the same address as the one on your mums suspended account?

I'm just checking ;)

:D

Yes, I have 5 different accounts, no, I've been using a completly different address for buying - my office address which is about 6 miles away.

So what you're saying is I don't have to panic/worry and am OK with using my Home Broadband?.

Dude 05-04-2011 07:45 PM

If I was use I would use a Mobile Broadband just to be safe, what is it gonna cost you £15 a months? who cares jus use it and you will have a peace of mind

Cool.

5 accounts, so are they all using different addresses? If so then yes you are doing fine, just keep a record of what IP addreses were used with which accounts.

ryanba 05-05-2011 01:03 PM

Yes, they all have different addresses.
I've been buying a lot lately, going to start selling soon.

stealthmaster 05-05-2011 02:26 PM

Hello Sky broadband has a Dynamic IP not like other ISP'S that use a Generic IP address, so there is a chance that if you use Sky broadband then I'd take a 50/50 chance on this one.

Stealth Master

So have you been recording which IP address you have used with which ebay/paypal accounts ?

BigCJ 05-08-2011 05:35 PM

From my experience, you can use the same IP address, but be prepared for them to ask for verification. I just told them that I use a library wifi hot spot and the rep cleared the account so I can go anywhere in NYC to bid and sell. I am doing this on 6 stealth accounts at the moment and haven't been linked (yet)

Just my 2 cents
