eBay Seller Account system changed?
 

It seems like there has been a change in the eBay system. I turned 2 eBay accounts which were over 6 months old into seller accounts. I entered VVC details and it went throught fine and also done phone verification, but when I tried to list something they are telling me to link my eBay to my PayPal account or add a bank account.

Has anyone else had this situtation and is it a change in policy.

Creating a Seller

I want to ask people something, I have opened many eBay accounts in the past, but for the first time last night, I had to confirm identity when I was only opening a buyer account....anyone else? First for me this!

I have opened many accounts over the years and they have all done this step when opening a seller account.

^ Happened to me yesterday...hmmm...if you have also never had it before. Then that is not coincidental to me, seems like a possible change to eBay UK at least.

Entropay - definitely didn't like - opening buyer account and wanted id documents and to call in. I just let it go assuming I had messed up:rant:

I also got the 'send in ID and proof of address', when trying to turn an old buyer account into a seller account yesterday. What do you think, lots of changes happening very fast on Ebay. Do you think I should just let this one go and start afresh, anyone tried to open a buyer account/seller account in the past 3 days, and been asked for the same info? Thank you.

Yep, I just opened another eBay account fine as well, but I was just suprised when I had to confirm my identity as soon as I opened my eBay account the other day, never had it before.

Not happening in ebay US,But i think is random,same like when you start with 10 items,20 or 100,just lucky ones get to the doc Ver. :)

I tried with an entropay VCC and immediately have been asked for id documentation plus a second card. I may try with a prepaid mastercard, that may work. What do you think?

entropay will not work with paypal and ebay, try to use some other vcc.

Prepaid bank-issued MC is much better than entr op ay

try and remove the card and it might go away after you added another one.

Has worked for me in the past, well a few weeks ago when the same thing happened, also did not need to send id.

I've Never ever experienced that on eBay UK maybe it's a technical glitch or some kind of random check who knows!.

Normally happens when the phone number you are using has been used before

i think its to do the with the system changes, theres loads going on at the moment, i think there implemting something like an automated credit check or score and if you dont pass it, you have to take extra steps, if your on the electrol role for the address you attach it seems to go alot smother than if your not.

thats for personal accounts.

i think another change in the pipe line maybe that they are tying u.k user to use the card attached to the bank account, almost all u.k current accounts come with a card. also when i removed my EP card and added the one atached to my bank account, the 1900 PP ID request immidatly went away, so its automated and tied to information you added to PP or EBY.
bank account, card, address, even little changes like postcode i susspect will flag your account, unlike before where you could easliy get away with it.

i think the new system there implementing will pick up on the slightest anomalie and auto flag your account.

you are 100% correct I can confirm this - even change a phone number, and if you havent already been verified via docs or via their sources, you will be asked for docs!!!!!

Another quick point is that it can work the other way to remove the 1900 limit request for id

i have evidence of this on another account too.

Well it was from a phone forwarding service, so their is a chance it has been used with eBay before. Could be this or one of the many other factors discussed in this thread.

Yeah, there can be quite a few different things which results in id being asked.
I recently added a seller account to a 6+ month account without much problem, just added the vcc and verified by phone. But I used another 6+ month account and it asked me to verify by linking to paypal after I done the vcc and phone verification, so not really sure what it depends on but you can be sure that eBay is changing!

I have never verified my ebay accounts with cred. card to make it sellers acc.Just phone call and 4 digit pin.But they always asked me for paypal to be linked. 3 of them lasted 7 months .The fault to be limited was mine.
