Good read - another A vs. B lawsuit .

BiN4RY 05-27-2011 10:02 AM

A horrible ass move on Paypal's part to be honest.

GrannyT 05-27-2011 10:03 AM

No doubt. I didn't know about it until I read this article

Here's a interesting comment, left in the reply's to the article. I've heard this rumor for years, but maybe the lawsuit is a indication of a bigger battle looming between these companies.

"I agree with Bill H. I heard a whisper lately from an insider at Goggle & they are developing an on-line auction, that will blow ebay away, a one that charges realistic fee's, including 0% in some categories. Ebay charges fee's almost par to most Auction Houses, although they don't provide any human face other than that of the seller, whom ebay continue to persecute. Auction Houses work hard for their commission, ebay fee's should continually be reducing as it expands, but instead they continue to increase.

EB and PP have some decisions to make here - if they push too hard would Google go for the auction market as has been intimated - 'buy combs boys, lousy times ahead'

It sounds like there is some merit to PP's lawsuit, but the threat real or imagined of Google starting up a auction site is some real leverage that Google has.

I hope to see some competing sites.
Personally, I would be delighted to see an auction site coming from google.
That is my opinion.

I feel the real reason PP are incensed at this development and issuing the lawsuit, is because Google got there first by NOT insisting on a cut of the transaction fees from Mastercard... whereas PP of course, will be grubbing around as much as possible, to extort as much commission as they can out of the merchant/transaction providers... thats why Google got the good to go thumbs up from retailers and merchant services earlier than PP.... I mean if you had the choice of 2 similar service providers, but one demanded 3.2% of your revenue from it, and the other didn't want a penny, then you go for the one that is cheapest to your business costs... when will PP learn that you can't exploit people just for the fees and insist on demanding revenues at their command.
