Default Hiding your feedback

Hi.

What are the implications of hiding your feedback?

is it good or bad, making your feedback private?

does it give the seller some leeway becoz buyers cnt see... only ur dsr rating maybe...?

Hiding feedback is often used by the foo foo sellers therefore in my opinion makes you look like you've got something to hide.

I don't think you can hide your feedback if you are a seller. All you can do is make your listings private so that no one can see what has been sold. Only buyers can hide feedback

Yes Imake$ - I think you will find that Ebay does not allow sellers to make their feedback private - I could be wrong on this but I'm sure I read it somewhere on Ebay. Whatever - I wouldn't see it as a good move for any seller

You can make it private in the sense that when you go on the sellers feedback page you cant see the items theyve sold it just comes up private, and doesnt allow you to click on the item in question.

The actual written feedback still appears but you dont know what the feedback has been received for.

That's correct. I run all of my sales like that - I always have done. Anyone going there can see my ratings (100% cough cough) but cannot see what I have sold. This goes back to about 8 years ago when I used to sell naughty videos (You could in those days - Paypal were the biggest processor for 'adult' sites before they got high and mighty) I don't think it is detrimental to me at all

Have you had no problems with making it private then?

Do you do this on all accounts or just for certain categories?

I've never found it a problem but I have always done it so I don't know any different. I do it across the board in everything I sell. This week I have three accounts with sales on, both auction and BIN and every one of them is 'private'. Just habit I guess

Oh ensignia, I've had my days, believe me. Back then you could list all sorts of soft porn, the trick was to slip the occassional hard one in. I used to buy them from our local sex shop at £5 and sell them on Ebay for £25.00. I regularly used to sell 30 plus a week. I didn't know about stealth in those days and when EB and PP got religion the whole ball game changed.

You couldn't do it now but back then you could sell anything and the foo-foo merchants had a hay day.

Once they realised the bad publicity was killing them they started to clamp down. VERO is just the latest of their clamp downs. I have no doubt they will keep up their campaign.

Amazon are the biggest sellers of soft porn right now

Well, I use Auctive for all my listings and there is a little box you click that makes it private.

I believe if you use Ebays listing tools there is also that box.

As I say it's the only way I have ever listed so I cannot say if it is good or bad - but it works for me

@OP this thread is now owned by GT. haha!

Anyway, their are two things that need to be differentiated and they are 'Making Your Feedback Profile Public or Private' and a 'Private Listing'.

The listings are private - not the feedback - the item does not show in the feedback ratings
