Anyone using Sky D Link routers?

Just heard sky users are having a problem with an update of their D-Link routers that is making their IP stick. There is also another router that is doing the same.

Been looking at this on forums about sky and it is looking like sky maybe switching to a fixed IP.

Gutted if you are using Sky

Hi,

Thanks for your post, it's been very helpful I was wondering why my IP address was staying the same.

I've been using sky since January and it was very useful until about a week ago.

Im using Sky and my IP still changes fine each time i restart.

Is this a definate that Sky is making all its services static OP?

I was just reading the alternative sky forum and on there someone was talking to their customer support, who talked to their next layer up support, who told them it is was going to be switching them all to fixed IPs.

But reading more on this you may have heard of the IPv6 roll out that started recently, and by the sounds of that all modems, proxies and other links linked to the net will be saddled with a fixed IP.

So far only the big companies like google and microsoft and the like have switched to using it but eventually all companies will be switching to using it and it is going to be costing us a fortune in getting new ways to connect to the net for each account.

At the moment I think it depends on what router you have, as some of the old routers and even some of the new routers have not updated to something called MER, as apposed to PPPoA

What sort of router you got and is it still using PPPoA are has it switched to MER?

If you log into your router it will tell you on the log in page
