12 day old account 12 items sold £231 in PP no holds..

I have been experimenting with a few new ebay accounts i have set up...

One of them is 12 days old, i purchased 12 items in the first two days, ranging from £1-156.

I also decided to start selling straight away on this one to see what the outcome was.

I haven't even added a bank account to paypal and have taken £231 with all 12 items sold. Ranging from £5-120 I also have no holds on the money whatsoever, one of the items i would also class as highish risk!!

Just thought I would put it out there.. i just cannot believe there are no holds at all to be honest! Gna take it steady on selling on it now though!

you have not added a bank account
what did you add a vcc?

Imakemoney 07-18-2011 01:39 PM

i wasnt aware you could begin selling on ebay UK without a verified paypal account?

GrannyT 07-18-2011 01:40 PM

Imakemoney 07-18-2011 01:43 PM

GrannyT 07-18-2011 01:44 PM

I have an account that is selling right now that has never had a bank account attached to it

Selling with an unverified pa yp al has been possible - i don't know the loophole you guys did (can always PM to discuss ha) but I will warn you that having done this before myself months ago, sooner or later you will be limited - sometimes without any chance of appeal..

GrannyT 07-18-2011 02:11 PM

Sorry Lumberjack - I disagree with you (But I still love you despite that!)

In UK, you have to ad a card to sell.

:clap:That's how it's done!!

How DARE you disagree with me Miss Easy Peesy  - =P

I just had this happen to me too! My new account has no limits but my older account has a 21 day hold now!

rsot 07-18-2011 05:01 PM

I understand - so bit diff out in UK - not necessary to always have a bank account, a "card" is sufficient for lower limits.

GrannyT 07-18-2011 05:06 PM

Get with the programme Lumberjack!!!!

stealthmaster 07-18-2011 07:06 PM

Here's the reaction I am feeling when I get one over on eBay http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur...w=1366&bih=667

@ Alps the legend: Can you confirm the limit with just selling on a VCC is £650? And do you can you sell more but just not withdraw until you add a bank account?

From what I can see, the main benefit from using this selling strategy is that you don't lose out on a bank account if the account has problems in the start-up period!

Why would they put any holds on your money if you don't have a way to get your money out?

But I see your point about building without loosing bank accounts.

GrannyT 07-19-2011 03:44 AM

I have an account that I have no product for so I just stick bits of junk on it and let it mature. I don't need the £50 that's in PP right now so I just keep smoothing it along. When I come to use it I will add a bank account. Until then why bother?

On a few ebay accounts I have created they put holds on the every transaction when I just had a VCC attached to PP until I have attached a Bank Account.

It's good for me as I buy loadssss of stuff off ebay anyway, so I can just use this money to buy more items to build up more feedback :)!

paulo 07-19-2011 05:52 AM

I know I sounds odd but there is definitely randomness on PP's part.

For instance, open 2 accounts, same day, sell some low value stuff, one account will have payments held, the next will let you take the money straight away.

Do you think they literally check accounts randomly for screening?

I also think you could go heavier with say 10 accounts, start selling more valuable items after 30 days, you might loose 1-5 account with PP holds, but I'm sure the rest get through!

Thoughts?

Well put Paulo - with more practice, comes more experience.

I have heard the depends what you sell argument but have noticed the same thing with them and do wonder if sometimes it is just a crap shoot, as you do get some accounts that just seem to get trouble from the get go.

I started avoiding using real names in accounts, as every time I used one it took a beating.

isitworththestress 07-19-2011 04:56 PM

Do these accounts become any stronger when you do start to use them for more serious selling?

GrannyT 07-19-2011 04:57 PM

Who knows? Nothing is set in concrete with Ebay

:pop2:

paulo 07-20-2011 09:09 AM

Absolutely!

I thoughts that after 3 months things would get easier, but any not at all!

The key as always is to take it very very slow. Even if your account is 3 years old selling £1 items, then start selling £100 items & your gone.... PP hate anything out of the ordinary so think slow, then go even slower than you already thought! Also spread across multiple accounts.

Build up from there and fingers crosses in 3-6 months you can build up to a decent income.
