Item sent payment not receieved

i sold a mobile phone on ebay .

i thought everybody had paid and sent all items out.

i then realised one person had not paid.

i tried contacting him. he ignored me.

ebay says i may have to ring the police.

has anybody been in the situation and does contatcing the police help at all.

How much are we talking here?

How on earth does something like this even happen?

On eBay it clearly shows if an item has been paid for or not. When you went to get the address to send to, the page would have said "you sent an invoice on 27th July", if it had been paid it would say "Paid with PayPal on the 27th July".

ebay always says ring the police, I dont know why they say that as they know police can do diddley...you sent it out, its your fault...sorry its harsh, but the item is out of your hands now and there is no way to get your money other than to politely contact buyer and give them a guilt trip....

Request buyers details to get phone number, no joy,If your hard go round their house, you already got their address.

I never understand why people still take the address from ebay anyhow, as you should only take the address from your payment method.

The number of times the ebay and paypal buyer details differ just make it a no brainer.

I agree with others, swallow it, unless you have the clout to deal with it face to face.

If face to face, then you have to remember to only be the aggressor in appearance, as it is so easy to step over the line.

What does it cost for the small claims or debt collectors these days? I am sure I heard on one forum there was a twenty five pound version of the latter

oompaloompa 08-01-2011 06:21 AM

needs to be £200 or over value to go to small claims...

Get the address from paypal. (I hope you used paypal ?)

Send certified letter of demand for payment within 7 days.

Was the mobile locked or unlocked? If locked, then get the IMEI number and report it to the carrier as stolen. That at least should disable the phone.

How did you send the parcel? Unless you have sent it Special Delivery or Airsure, it's not really trackable. You might consider contacting RoyalFail lack of customer service & spin a little tale that you've found out the delivery address is wrong. See if they suggest anything..which I doubt.

Contact your CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau). Get them to tell you much along the lines of what I've said. They might add something extra.
Tell them you have sent a letter of demand and get their confrimation (or not) that you go to small claims track.
Keep each & every piece of paper related to what you do now.
Rent a copy of Kill Bill and Kill Bill2.

I'm not saying any of this will work. But I prefer you get some options rather than feel like an idiot for sending out an item not paid for

I don't know you do it once, but you tend not to do it a second time, so even if put down to experience, it is probably a lesson worth paying for, as they have fixed a problem in their system that could have cost them a lot more.

GB gave some great advice.

You made an honest mistake which you will almost certainly have learned from. From now, I would say that being persistence is key.

Then rent a copy of Rambo First Blood Part 2. (Skip to the end scene.)

with all those boxes, that looks like an ebay sellers store room. I bet if you zoom in on that monitor it is on ebay.

I can go round there with my doberman dog, a couple of my nut-job mates and we can get your goods back for you and extras - for a fee of course - not a big fee as its more for fun for us than about the $
