eBay feedback scam - preventing members leaving feedback

Been sending out dozens of items and thought it was strange how members have been leaving positive feedback for items which are not on the 21 day hold thing, but not leaving positive on 21 day holds items.

Got over £400+ being under 21 day holds over many accounts and I thought eBay are preventing users from leaving feedback so that they can keep my money trapped for the full 21 days plus then 5 days for transferring it to the bank. Basically, looking like a full month to get my money.

Don't anyone be naive and think that this is all some sort of mistake. It is a company based scam and another one of their dirty tricks.

Just saw a message on the eBay announcement board: 2/8/11 saying that members are actaully being prevented from leaving feedback, etc...

SO, my concerns are actually true.It is another eBay scam to stop sellers getting their own money. Don't eBay just make you sick. :mad2: :mad2:

Really interesting post.

I have had several stealth accounts where feedbacks on 21 day-hold items never materialised. It was not a blanket thing, on small items feedback would often be received but on sales worth a few bob, feedback never seemed to be left.

In my more conspiratorial moments I did wonder whether this was more than coincidence but concluded I was probably being paranoid. Maybe not it seems..?

I agree, they break their own rules, do you add tracking?

Everything sent out always gets tracking uploaded on the PayPal website the same day as posted. Sent out recorded always.

Makes absolutely no difference to PP at all. They say it will get unlocked when you add tracking and the item shows as delivered. Total bull.

Money is never unlocked unless 21 days goes by or feedback is left.

About 4 months ago I used to email PP saying that the item is delivered on the Royal Mail website in a hope they would stick to thir rules about unlocking your money sooner. PP reply with some copy and paste crap informing me about where I can buy some crap in Halfords. :mad2: :mad2:

There's not an automatic system for Paypal to release funds. If you want it done via tracking numbers you have to prompt them via email and then it is done manually.

Not good when your selling vero and want to stay under the radar. I did that and had my account pulled.

Instead I just chase every sale with an after message along the lines of "Ive not had your money" most people leave feedback then.

Must be another deal where it just matters what and how you sell. At the beginning of all my accounts I always ship fast they come right off within 3-5 days of delivery conf. Usually the feedback does it but the ones that didnt never lasted more than 5 days. I kept close track.

How about you call them? I did it every day for 2 months. Items delivered, wait 4 days, call PP and they release my money. Time consuming, but I got all of my money when I needed it and not 21 days after every transaction.

Thanks for everyone's advice. It can be frustrating when these holds happen.

I too was aware of staying under the radar and would not consider ringing, emailing or even contacting buyers to get the money unlocked. Too risky, especially with 'sensitive' items being sold.

Looks like I will have to factor in a potential 21 day backlog of held sales funds in my sales plan. Can be costly like this, but until holds are removed, perhaps the only safe way.

Quite interesting how PP do exactly the same to the American sellers as they do to the British sellers....

Once you get past 20 feedback or 3 months selling its happy days from there on so its just patience i guess.

Times move on. Last post on this thread was nearly two years ago.

There are now many factors when it comes to 21 day holds.

FFS, not again.
