Urgent Assistance Req: Possible Scammer?

Hi there.

Wonder if someone can help me. I've sold 6 fairly valuable items today, all paid for individually by Paypal to the same buyer to the total of around £1000.

Originally he requested that I send out the items today (he purchased around 3pm). I got back and said that they'll be sent first thing in the morning, but that I'll upgrade the postage to Special Delivery free of charge. He then asked to come and collect (even though he is probably about 2 hours away).

Although his buying habits are obscure, his Paypal/Ebay name are the same and his email address links to the correct Facebook name. His address is also listed in an expensive apartment complex within Central London.

My questions:

1. If I send the items tomorrow to the confirmed Paypal address, am I protected just incase this is something scammy?

2. If I do send them, can I just send them as 1 parcel or will I need to send 6 individual parcels to be eligible for any possible buyer protection?

3. If he collects, would I be covered if I was to send any item (of similar weight) to the confirmed address?

Thanks for any help with this one!

Have you contacted Ebay to find out? What did they say? You have to provide proof of

shipping otherwise Paypal will give the buyer a refund if the buyer opens a claim, which

you do not want.

Personally I would say fine you can come collect them, bring the cash with you and refund the paypal payments and see what they say. If they change their tune then you know to be worried.

I would also send out each parcel rather than one parcel and as sweetpea says I would ask ebay and paypal for their advice in this one

Also if you do send them as one parcel via special delivery make sure you pay to up the insurance level as it only covers you for £500 as standard

Never rely on RM insurance, as they will only pay you the price you pay for the item not the price you lost.

That was why a lot of sellers used to hand the claim over to the buyer but then paypal got involved and messed that up.
