| | | | | maprod | 08-11-2011 10:36 AM | Should I send document to eBay if I don't remember Date of birth??? I have one ebay account that I signed up just for fun a few years ago. However at the beginning of this year I used this account to sell items and it's going well right now. I used this account to sell while I was abroad and couldn't open new bank account. Also didn't mean to be serious with this selling account until the sale is going quite well.
Unfortunately ebay now sent me message and ask me to provide them with
1) Proof of your identity (copy of your national ID, passport or driving
license)
2) Proof of your address you have on file with us (copy of utility bill)
3) Proof of ownership for each of the items listed
The problem is... I don't remember the date of birth I put on file at the beginning. I have paypal account which was attached with this ebay account at beginning. However I found out that the date of birth on Paypal and eBay are not the same. (Called ebay to sort out something and they let me know that I gave them wrong date of birth).
So what should I do? Should I send document to verify and writing to them to explain that I signed up just for fun a few years ago. But now I want to sell. Or I better dumb this account and start new one? (but it's going quite well now...that's why I want to keep it if there is a chance ebay will listen)
Please advice. Thank you so much. |
| GrannyT | 08-11-2011 12:18 PM | Don't send documents in because they are not going to work - just a waste of documents. Worth a phone call I guess but my gut instinct is that this is toasted. Personally, as you have proved to yourself you can sell properly, I would start again and do it right this time

| ShadyOne | 08-11-2011 01:20 PM | I would personally just start a new account, following stealth. |
| KingRay | 08-11-2011 01:32 PM | Do what shady says and make a new account. Not worth messing with. Good luck |
| maprod | 08-11-2011 02:47 PM | Ok then. I will follow what you guys suggested. will quit this account and start new. What a waste of another bank account -_-" ..lol.. |
| Imakemoney | 08-11-2011 02:48 PM | Yeah I agree the account is toast.
Atleast you've learnt a lesson I hope? Make a note of your account details :peace: |
| frksmth | 08-11-2011 03:09 PM | Starting afresh would perhaps be the best way to go... |
| isitworththestress | 08-12-2011 03:35 AM | That is something I have found, that when ebay start asking for ID it is generally because they have already decided to kick you, and they seem to be a much harder nut to crack than paypal.
I agree with everyone else and start your new accounts and a place to keep your records of all your new accounts.
I think someone suggested on another thread you can close the bank account and open it up in six months or so. |

I find it the reverse. |
| GrannyT | 08-12-2011 03:10 PM | How so Lumberjack?

When eb ay asks for ID, tends to work much better than pa yp al asking for ID - you don't find that? |
| GrannyT | 08-12-2011 03:26 PM | Not had it |
Meh you're a princess so your comments = null ha |
| sparkyplug | 08-12-2011 03:56 PM | i find if ebay ask its a very bad news yes i agree easier to upload the documents etc but it normally means i find the account is had it
when pay pal ask although it can be a total pain to upload etc it doesn't normally mean the end. |
| oompaloompa | 08-12-2011 04:04 PM | I find ebay is easier to pass than paypal, my ebay is 100% success, not so for paypal....
dob is a big problem, but worth a try to submit anyway...and OP needs to sort out own stuff instead of begging for freebies via pm, ignored! |

| ShadyOne | 08-13-2011 08:18 AM | Yeah I would side with the comments on PayPal being the tougher nut to crack!
On the thread topic, best advice has already been mentioned, start another fresh account and "keep your records of all your new accounts" :) |
| maprod | 09-04-2011 10:04 AM | Just to update to you all.
I decided to send both ebay and paypal document. Paypal responded next day. And finally ebay removed the restriction on my account after sending them documents last two week. However I still got selling allowance of 100 items per month. I may try to register second, third ebay selling accounts (same name, same person, same paypal) as someone suggested and will see if they will limit number of items of 100 on each account or limit of 100 including all accounts.
I also have a few more spare ebay selling accounts that are ready to sell (registered new just in case) but I just want to use one account by now. Thank you everyone for your advice. Thanks for Oompa to remind me that "worth a try" so I see there is nothing to loose. Just time to sort out document myself. but yes, it's worth my time to try and it works :) |
| maprod | 09-04-2011 10:07 AM | Forgot to ask...
In the email, it says "Please update your birth of date as we aren't’ able to change any personal information"?!?!?!?!?!?!?
How can we update the date of birth????we cannot, can we? so what can I do? There is no option on ebay to let you change date of birth or even check what your date of birth on profile is. |
| oompaloompa | 09-05-2011 03:07 AM | that is weird, correct no option - just say or do nothing about that and hope it was a glitched message..... |
| UnderBites08 | 09-08-2011 08:13 AM | Is there anywhere to get these blank documents? A PM would be very appreciated. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 02:28 PM. | |
