Can my Accounts Get Link From Royal Mail Signed for Label

Im using the same label roll for all my accounts witch i got from post office (royal mail signed for)

the tracking number on them is very same just the last letter is different.

Get a new roll from the Post Office - problem solved

:pop2:

isitworththestress 08-29-2011 05:23 AM

I think you are putting too much faith in ebays security measures.

ShadyOne 08-29-2011 06:37 AM

I think that anyone who is serious about Stealth will consider such things as the what GREENLION has considered. I agree that the obvious solution, which is to get a new roll from the Post Office, but I enjoy it when people realise possible ways of linking. It means they are keeping to Stealth properly :)

Though I also agree with isitwortthestress in that it is unlikely to be part of their procedures, thought better to be safe.

What;s this "roll" deal about?

GREEN LION 08-29-2011 01:06 PM

I got 5 different roll for my 5 different account's.I just wanted to know if somebody had any bad experience on this, witch seems like nobody had.(good)

@rsot postoffice recorded delivery rolls, you can get them from post office so you can give tracking number to your buyers before you actually send the item, makes it easier in the post office too.

eBay King 08-29-2011 03:51 PM

Do you know what, I considered this too and was going to post a topic about it but changed my mind.

I was also concerned about the eBay tracking via recorded slips. The number from the recorded slip only changes slightly at the end of the Royal Mail tracking number.

So, for instance: AB123456789XY would change on the next slip to: AB12345690XY. It is only the very 2 or 3 last numbers which change and I thought PP and company could track this.

Seems not the case though, as I have sent out literally hundreds of items this year with extremely close tracking numbers all from the same roll and PP and company have not done anything. :amen:

Oh, and also the close proximity of RM tracking numbers is less scary when you consider most of us are quite happy to log into an account with a very close IP address, like sometimes with just 1 or 2 digits different and eBay do not do jack.

So, close numbers both on RM and IP appear to be OK. Duplicates are a no no though.

if getting different rolls keeps you from going grey

do it!

it pays to be paranoid;)

isitworththestress 08-31-2011 05:11 AM

It pays to be paranoid but you have to have some common sense, as if ebay databased everything they could then they would have to take over the American space program.
They would need the moon to store the servers.

They are getting a ton of information everytime you use their site and I doubt they are even using a fraction of it.

I even noticed someone created a script that wold track the way a person moved the mouse on their page. This tended to make patterns that they claimed were unique to the individual.

Problem is they were probably using a small site and not something as big as ebay or paypal so the database requirements to store all the patterns would be massive.

Add that to all the other stuff they could be using if they wanted to then you will basically end up too afraid to open the page by time you are finished.

Also the fact those roles are used in the post office so fifty users on ebay could be using the same role and how would ebay know if you had your own role or use the post office role.

Think about everything you do but also consider that ninety nine percent of it is as important as stressing about being hit by lightening.

ShadyOne 08-31-2011 03:45 PM

This thread topic also reminds me of mobile phone numbers, because if you purchased sim cards in bulk to use with eBay and PayPal, you could have similar phone numbers such as 07778889991, 07778889992, 07778889993 etc etc

I am not saying this is an issue or that I need someone to point out an obvious solution :) Just noticed the similarities between this and the OP's thoughts.

GTB 08-31-2011 04:09 PM

you have got be sensible about it but still,it is good a thing to be thinking that way

what stealth is all about, not getting caught, keeping under the radar, avoiding potential links

so op is on the right tracks:thumb:

GREEN LION 09-01-2011 06:20 AM

Thanks Guys,

@isitworthstress you are also right, but it never hurts to ask a question and avoid something bad happen
