Default Paypal Direct Debit - what's this?!?!

Hi Guys,

Just had a look at one of my statement and a few days ago there is a transaction for direct debit of Paypal for a small amount (~£2)

appears as the following on the statement:

PAYPAL PAYMENT , INITIAL PAYMENT

What's all this about? Anything to worry about?!

Account is around a month old and not linked etc

Some person posted all about this last week but i can't find the thread now, think it got moved to the subs or removed, as i remember they said it was a new thing that they do to find the details of the account holder, anyone else know the post im talking about ? think most here disagreed with the persons post at the time.

did you receive a warning email?
I had the option to do this with a paypal account to verify a cc once - i obviously backed out.
They can't do this without your consent - surely?

Of course they can. If you allow the direct debit mandate, they take an implied approval to do what they want. It's a reason to keep on top of paypal activity and one's own bank accounts.
Be alert

Pretty foolish statement to make seeing as though you are not talking from personal or in fact any experience in regards to this kind of situation.

thats good mate!

i had just about got to the point where the 21 days would of been removed but they upheld them as i had a problem just before the 3 months were up

lets hope that the direct debit does not cause you any issues

PayPal take money from bank accounts once a direct debit has been set up. I am not saying they randomly snipe little sums of money when you had your back turned. Well, that has never happened to me so far anyway. Their's always a reason for these things, look for it is my advice.

Unless of course this is a 'NEW THING' that PayPal are doing to catch us all out, in that case, we're all f***ed!

Good luck
