Another Bank Account Question....

Hi folks!

I read in a thread by someone else that you can apparently apply for multiple personal accounts with the same bank, is this true? I know that in the past I've heard you can open multiple savings accounts to help manage money to save for a car / holiday / xmas etc, but I'm not sure if they allow you to operate multiple current accounts... whats the score?

I'm asking as I'm running out of options for banks that I can open accounts with, my credit rating is appauling as I've never really used credit cards or had loans so ridiculously I only qualify for 'basic' type accounts!

Anyway I've done the entire high street worth of banks nearly now and if it is possible for me to operate several accounts with each bank then thats great news. I somehow doubt it, but what does anyone else think?

I dont want to use these accounts where you have to pay £12 per month plus fees everytime you transfer money in or draw money out, blimey there are enough fees to pay selling on ebay with paypal as it is without having to pay for the right to keep my money somewhere...

Most banks allow you to have multiple accounts. i dont personally ever open more then 3 with one bank though.

I must admit - I totally agree with Imakemoney on this.

Think long term and think paper trails

Hi have you looked at Metro Bank? Im in a similar situation to you. Ive opened bank accounts with almost every single high street bank and ven resorted to the banks which charge monthly fees. I just think that £12.50 / month is worth it if you are making money from eb@y

Right, thanks for that guys, I should be able to re-open some accounts with the banks I thought I'd worn out then, I've already tried to apply for one I have an account with and the online application has gone through OK and I'm just waiting for them to send the stuff through the post. I'll let you know what goes on.

Cortex, I understand what you are saying, £12.50 isnt a lot if you have regular money coming in from selling on Ebay, but I've found in the past that 'regular money' and 'Ebay' dont really belong together so I can see the £12.50 fees ending up going unpaid at some point thus ending up racking up even more fees. Also if there is a possibility of using a proper bank free of charge then I would much rather do that first.
