question about rbs being sold out

if anyone has a rbs account, well it seems they are selling out to santander. i had a santander account ages ago and it was paying me low interest so i closed it, even though they did everything in their power to try and persuade me not to so i don't really have a great rship with this bank!

my pp gt shut down recently and was linked to my rbs account. i thought about shutting the account down as it was only used to collect my pp payments. then i get a letter saying they are sending me a new debit card soon, now im thinking maybe wait for the card as it will all be new numbers ect to open another eb and pp account and then shut the bank account down? but once a card and account is shut down, will pp and eb ask you to replace them?

i could just use to card to fund another account with but wont be able to transfer back into that account? :/ should i leave it open or wait for this new card to come?

The card number may be different but the account it's attached to will still have the same account number and sort code. So if you've already used it on e/b or p/p then it's no good to use again.

yeah definitely cant use that account again but might just use the card. potentially could use it for my stealth buying account although once santander have taken over completely im wondering if new account nos and sort codes will be given too? there was no mention of it though -then that would be perfect timing!

RBS is not being sold to Santander only some of their branch network.

It is unlikely that new account numbers will be given to any customers that this may affect but who knows
