Sending money to a supplier via PP..

Hi guys,

Seen a few posts around here before about sending money to suppliers from PayPal, I did this in the past and it eventually catches up with you as they start holding payments if you sell the items through the same PP.

If I was to create a seperate Paypal and add a card to it and just send all my payments through there but sell all my items from another EBAY & PP, would this be ok?

I currently send all my payents to suppliers via TT, makes life easier and HALI FAX provide some great rates sending worldwide.

I originally came to this forum because I always was limited because paying via PP then selling on the same account but need someone to clarify I can send on one PP and sell on a completely different one?

Many thanks

Can be done - you must keep the activity of the accounts separate via stealth.

So on one of my PP's that I have created just to send payments I would just send money and on the other accounts (stealth's) sell the items...

Also, if Im only sending money off 1 of the PP's do they limit for just sending?

Yes, there are sending limits on all accounts

Yes I know there is....that wasnt what I asked..

I asked would they ever limit my account if I was only sending money rather than selling goods and processing payments through the accounts?

Yes they can limit accounts that only send money.

Hmm, so in actual fact its a bad idea to send via PP as if they limited they always grab a couple of payments to review. If they hold that money and my supplier has already sent the goods then me and the supplier fall out, not a good move I suppose

Yes, they will review any payments through accounts and if suspicious will as you say either hold or limit the account until they are satisfied.

I have recently had a buying only account limited, albeit only for a few days while they checked over some payments.

Bear in mind it's not just your account that's under scrutiny but also the receiving account and if they don't like something about that then both accounts can be limited.

If you are paying suppliers leave p/p well out of the equation and stick to bank transfers.

Think I might just do that to be honest... wish there was something else besides Paypal its such a horrible payment method.

I just dont know how to link in Merchant accounts or how they work.. anyone have any information on it or the best one to use? Can you link them in with eBay via cart manager?

GTB 03-13-2012 12:19 PM

its possible mate that they could hold the payment

depends on if they see the receiving account as suspicious or the transaction as high risk

you cannot guarantee anything with paypal!

like noneother said.....stick to bank transfers

Not sure why you would want a merchant account for paying suppliers, receiving payments, yes but buying, no.

If you really need one then speak to your bank, assuming you are running a proper business and they can set you up and yes they can be used with e/b checkout.

Sorry NoneOther - cross purposes I wanted a Merchant account for receiving payments instead of PayPal.

Would I still have to worry about problems with MERCHANT accounts e.g. limitations or does that only happen with Paypal?

Banks will also scrutinise payments through a merchant account but probably not as harshly as p/p

But do bear in mind that if using it on e/b then ost buyers will still opt for p/p which you must still offer (in the UK)

So I still have to take payments via PP even though I have a merchant account setup?

I thought they pay via PP to my merchant account if thats how it works?

No buyers have the option to use p/p or their credit/debit card via you merchant account, you cannot refuse to accept p/p.

I said before most buyers will opt for p/p so unless you have your own website to maximise the use of a merchant account your pretty much wasting your time and money.

Sorry if I am off topic but I dont really have time to check over the replies etc. I NEVER pay suppliers via PP. My suppliers are Chinese of course, yours may be too but I wouldnt recommend it, just an opinion though.

BUT.... What some suppliers do is make a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name for what your are buying. Say for instance you buy real items from China (rare lol). Say PC parts. They will put 200 pencils or whatever on the invoice. So in that respect its "safe"

I usually pay by card visa but your bank account will be charged for a overseas transaction fee.
