PayPal negative balance
 

Hi guys,

Does anyone have any experience with negative PayPal balances in the UK?

I've got a -£1300 balance.

What can PayPal do about this?

The cards I have on the account are a CC which has since had the card number changed (so a charge would be refused, I presume) and debit card (current but I keep no money in the account, no overdraft so a charge would be refused).

Worse case experience please as to what they can do (or rather *DO* do.. do they really bother chasing the money etc).

Is the account in your real name and real address? If so, then you can expect the full treatment regarding debt recovery.

They will chase and/or go to collections. Actions will depend on what information is on file...

Yep, info is genuine as this is my own PayPal that I've had 10+ years.

How long until you get chased for the payment, i.e debt recovery?

And will debt recovery accept a small regular payment?

Also, if the PP account goes into debt recovery, will any past eBay accounts the PP is linked to be suspended? Even though they're not actively being used?

it depends how "moral" you are

i know how it works from both the PP end and from the company that deals with collecting the debt

youve had the service and i know PP are little buggers

BUT

and this is my advice

pay your debt

wait until you get the letter from iqor

ring them

tell them pp suspended your acc and your broke

offer them what you can afford on a weekly basis

pay it and everyone is happy

karma wil get you if you dont :boink:

In my own experience I have received nothing from one of my paypal accounts that hit over $6,000 into the negative.

Around £4,500.

No letter no calls nothing!

The debt was due to them reversing a transaction for a site that was sold to someone using paypal the person got the site and then disputed the sale so they robbed me basically.

I put my case to paypal and said I would more than welcome any court action.

I told them as soon as I receive one letter form a debt recovery agency I will write back to them demanding court action so I could present the facts that the site was sold to this person and I was the one who was robbed.

However if its a genuine debt you owe then best to just call the debt company tell them the situation and arrange a payment plan, if they say no just ask for court action as that's all the court will make you do anyway.

Debt recovery will accept that.

There are certain things for you to do to ensure everything goes correctly.
