3 Dongle

Hi,

I'm following the stealth guide and done every step (user account, similar name, new address, even spoofed my mac) but cannot change my IP address (I'm with BT Infinity and despite going through every hub setting could not find out how to change its mac thus could not change the IP save for resetting the hub - that didn't work since Amazon still detected me). However upon reading these forums I saw that fellow stealthers mentioned the 3 dongle and so I was hoping you could help me with these questions:

1. Do I need to be a member of 3 to use it (for phone use I'm with Orange, for internet I'm with BT)

2. Will the use of this dongle resolve the IP address step?

3. Where can I buy it (I'm looking for Pay as You Go and saw others mention prices at £10 a month, etc. but the ones I see are substantially more expensive so really need help here).

Thanks in advance and I hope you have a pleasant day.

EDITED TO ADD: Would this for example work (and will I require a sim): http://store.three.co.uk/view/produc...e/2433?id=1205

I really appreciate any help I can get. I'm online all day just waiting for a reply (and have read through this forum relentlessly).

yeah the 3 dongle has dynamic IP addys so everytime you connect to it you get a different IP addy so everytime you switch accounts just disconnect and reconnect it

you can buy one online on the 3 website or go into carphone warehouse and walk away with a dongle the same day. all you need is a pay as you go one costs £10 a month for 1GB which is cheap enough just go into carphone warehouse and ask for it. Mine cost £30 but you got 3gb which was valid for 3 months then after that just top up once a month for a tenner

or use dial up connection

Thanks, I'll go to Carphone warehouse tomorrow (or Tuesday - they'll likely be closed due to the bank holiday). I really appreciate the response as I'm eager to attempt the stealth guide and am worried I will fail (I've already failed once after thinking resetting the router - which did change the IP address - would work as I was caught by Amazon immediately).

I also have a minor question regarding GMail (disabling images from displaying) - I bizarrely can't find the settings button to select 'Ask Before Displaying Content' so if anyone can tell me I would appreciate it.

Thanks, I might use it if Carphone Warehouse isn't open tomorrow (dial-up is so slow and I presume I will be charged for dialling even if the service itself is free).

Embarrassingly I don't know how to get the dial-up connection (I disconnected the modem from the hub and connected it instead to my laptop but was unable to get a connection) so unless anyone can help me in this regard I may end up having to purchase a dongle.

Dongles are a better option that dial-up nowadays I would suggest :)

Or you could get a dynamic internet service provider such as BT or Sky

I'm actually with BT and tried resetting my router which changed my IP but still got banned from Amazon (despite having different mac address on my computer, similar name, prepaid card, etc. - I'm trying to use it as a buyer only and got my first order shipped out but my account was suspended before the second order shipped which I presume is because I couldn't change the mac on the router) which is why I'm looking for another method (which I intend to use on eBay for selling).

eBay & Amazon are completely different beasts when it comes to tracking you.

With eBay currently you need not worry about the mac address.

That's good - I have a savings account (used current account on eBay in the past but not savings), prepaid card (3v), will use a variation of my name (first name mispelled, surname the same), a new IP from the dongle I intend to buy this week, new user account (with the name I'm registering with), new e-mail, address of a local store, and new phone number (intend to use soho66 - bizarrely my number is on hold so will have to call when they're open to fix this) - have I got my bases covered?

Is this dongle okay for the IP address (it's T-mobile rather than 3) - T-MOBILE E3131 Pay As You Go Mobile Broadband Dongle buy online | Currys

Also will I require a sim card with it (or do I use the dongle as is)?

Thanks, just purchased! Will I also need to buy a sim (I'm new to this whole dongle thing so I apologise for my ignorance)

Killuminati 08-27-2012 11:43 AM

Yes you will need a sim card to use the internet you will need to top up when data runs out or you can apply for a monthy rolling contract.

Your with BT and going to buy a dongle

Get inside your router under advanced settings.

you will have 3 options regards ip range

Swap the top one for middle, completly new set up

when your day to day computing from another user account ,swap it back to top one.

when going on ebay swap back to middle.

Thanks, I'll try that while I wait for my dongle to arrive.

Minor question but when signing up with PayPal with the prepaid card should I make sure the prepaid card details match that of what I'm inputting in PayPal (i.e. even the addresses)?

^^
You have quite a bit of researching to do.

I've read the stealth guide and Amazon ghost multiple times and spent an incessant amount of time on these forums reading advice from others who are incredibly knowledgeable at this - but I still feel that I need to ask these questions because I can't afford to mess up. I don't want to have a bank account flagged because of a mess I made, and I only have a small amount of funds left to be able to make this work (I have a lot of items to sell but no income coming in until I sell them). The advice given from everyone here has been tremendous and made me a lot more confident, and I need to make sure I don't make the mistake I made last week (whatever that is) since I got suspended from Amazon within 3 days (and that was as a buyer) and intend to sell on eBay for many years.

It is helpful to ensure the information you have chosen to enter on your PP/VCC is the same set of information for both PP & EB A/C.

If the VCC you are using requires an address input, ensure this cross matches the one you want on PP/EB.

EDITS:
Your stealth ghost/ebay subscriptions are not visible on your user profile....

click the cog in the top right, then settings, look for external content.

select, ask before displaying external content.

diamonda 08-29-2012 02:10 PM

^^ thanks, I did do this previously but as with the previous thread poster, it wasn't an option when I tried again. Assuming it was therefore a temp glitch so all should be sorted when I go back and try again.
