Default Is anyone else relying less and less on ebay

Hi all,

I wanted to start this thread because since buying the stealth bible and

having a number of accounts running i find myself relying less and less on

eBay.

I find there is alot of other ways and channels of earning money without

even using ebay yet selling the exact same products. Even earning more than

what i would selling on the dreaded site.

I know the old and bold will probably know this already but i thought i would

start the thread for new-comers to stealth. There is ALOT of ways other

than eBay.

Local paper, Word of mouth (works very well if you have HOT product) Social networking

(One of the biggest growing ways to sell products) local papers,Preloved,Gumtree. And

many more, These methods may seem obvious but not many people seem to do it as

they believe ebay is the be all and end all and i have made more lately from the other sites.

Ofcourse ebay isnt to be totally ignored as there is money to be made on there but i use

it as more of a classified ads website now rather than a main lifeline.

I am not relying on them any more or any less.

For the type of items I sell, there is really no other platform that will get me the prices I get with the minimal amount of work I put in.

I have a easy life, and without eBay things would be much harder and much more time consuming.

^Keep working hard and you will see rewards. You don't necessarily need the advice from people on forums...its largely based on trial and error...and gut instinct. As Lord Alan Sugar once said ... "You cant go into Boots and buy a bottle of entrepreneurial juice. Youve either got it or you havent."
If truth be told, most ebay sellers dont have it. You know if you have it or not.

I market my website through all the channels you mentioned. social networking has sky rocketed my sales.

Even though I depend less and less on ebay, I still DO depend on it as my MAJOR selling platform. Soon though my website will takeover ebay as my major selling platform with the help of some clever and effortful marketing.

God Luck with your business.

The worst number is 1. Never rely on 1 traffic source. You can get wiped out overnight.

Always have traffic from somewhere else to market your products.

I also use Amazon. Took a while to get established, and sales are now regular, but still eBay outsells it by about 25:1. Also have website selling about the same as Amazon. So for online sales eBay is a necessity no matter how much we hate it.

As much as we hate ebay , we still need dem #@%$#$$ lol.

I highly recco setting your own website and drive ya traffic there from ebay and other channels.

When starting a business you have the idea of being your own boss not ebay who bully some of us.

so use your own website and market it everywhere because thats the best way and im going for that too now.

I use them all and more, one of the biggest supprises for me was a nice little south african aution site called bidorbuy that someone posted on this very forum.
