Need Solid Advice, Totally Stuck

I tried putting this in the IP forum but no one seems to want to help.

I brought the stealth book but it doesn’t help me on this situation and I have been totally stuck for three days now.

I have BT Broadband. My Home Hub 3 in another room. I connect to the router wirelessy from a Netgear N600 USB stick.

I understand that I can change my IP if I press the reset on the router, but looking around for advice on here I found out that I could log in to the router settings, and that I would have an infinity of options to swap i.p's ranges.

There is a default option, second pre selected option and a 3rd configurable option where you can put any i.p range. I have been using the default for too long now, and since reading the stealth book found out ebay can track me. I now need to change the IP range which I tried to do earlier.

I went into the home hub 3's advanced settings to change my ip's range from the default. Have clicked apply and reset / turned off router.

i went back into the hub settings and checked that everything was changed to new range - which it was. I then checked my windows network connection and that seemed to have the 'new' range numbers. When i check my netgear n600 smart wizard settings, that has the new range also... However, i checked ip burger, however the ip that is finding is the same 'old' range ip's.

I'm a little confused here, why would ip burger be wrong ? I've also tried What's My IP Address? Networking Tools & More and What Is My IP Address | Shows Your IP Address they still have the old range ! Is there a problem known on the home hub 3 for this?

I have gone into hub again and found that the TCP/IP settings 'Broadband network IP address' is the old range i have been getting with ip burger. Do i have to change something else ?

Your home network has two IP ranges one is external/public assigned by your ISP and is what is seen by remote servers you connect to.

The other is internal/private and can be changed via the software but it will not alter the external/public IP

If when you are restarting the router you are getting similar IP ranges there is nothing you can do about it as these are assigned by the ISP and not your modem or router.

Your best options are either to change your ISP or use mobile broadband dongles
