Going overseas using my friends laptop
 

Im going to asia in the next few days, ill be borrowing my friends laptop, ill be using a USB internet dongle connection. Im going to be clearing all cookies on the laptop with CCleaner and will be making up a new user account on the laptop. Does that sound about right? any other things I can do?

Are you going to Asia for the purpose of creating Stealth accounts?

no way... I already have a Stealth account, Im going on holiday and I will not be selling anything on ebay, I just need to check up on messages for any problems that buyers might have had with something that I have sold within the last couple of days, I would hate to not log into my ebay account and then get a negative becuase I didnt reply to a problem.

Why not just use email (gmail)?

Or turn on your holiday settings.
Holidays are hard enough to come buy without spoiling them sorting out stuff from ebay.
Let it work for you .. Not you work for it .

e/b's holiday settings are notoriously unreliable to say the least.

Checking and replying to email using Gmail is simple and as it does not disclose your IP address in the mail header it can be safely used anywhere in the world.

As NoneOther stated, good use of the e-mail - do not log onto eB...your change of IP MIGHT flag the account.

I would call ebay/paypal before going overseas.

I would tell them I could be accessing my accounts from a different IP.

Sensibly, I would not have any listings going for the time I am away. This is to reduce the chances of issues with buyers.
Consider closing down for the time you are having a holiday.
Asia is a known hotbed for hacked accounts. You need to be sure of not being trapped by paypal & getting limited.
Please take steps to cover yourself & not ruin the holiday because of paypal/ebay

Yes! (if you are so intent on signing into your accounts)

Something I would do, is to get your friends laptop a week or two before your trip and and already have the new user account set up and signed into your accounts.

Do some heavy eBay browsing to get the cookies and flash objects set beforehand, IMO eBay is more interested in those than a IP address.

AND: Definitely do as GreenBean said and call eBay with your intentions and make sure they log it.
