30 Day Dispatch ?

If you set a 30 day dispatch on ebay....

Can the buyer still open a case with paypal after 7 days and if so would paypal still hold your funds ?

A buyer can open a case with paypal up to 45 days from the date of the transaction as far as I know. It says on their term page.

They cannot open a case until 30 days + delivery time

but still do not do that 30 day dispatch on your auctions, you may loose your account

I once thought that was a good idea to stop buyers opening new cases,

PayPal limited my account shortly after I listed 40-50 auctions

Had to submit lots of documents to prove my "business" strategy etc etc

The 30 day dispatch definitely raises some red flags

Luckily in the end they unlimited my paypal

How do you know that was the reason for the limitation....Did they tell you ?

Surely EBAY would have limited your account not PP

Well it was surely one of the red flags for the paypal limitation,

another major flag for me was moving large sums of money between 3 accounts, all under different names addresses banks etc etc

I dug out what they asked for when they limited my account

• Supplier Information & Business model
• Expected monthly payment volume for the next 6 months
• Do you post from inventory or drop ship
• Invoices for the items sold
• Reasons for long delivery time frames: estimated between Sat. # Feb. and Tue. # Feb.
• Explain Activity on Account (here they listed various transactions)
• Please provide proof of shipping for items (the last 10 items)

I've already sold a few items that had a 30 dispatch on them.

I set a 30 day dispatch to safeguard me a bit from paypals 21 day hold but now I'm thinking what if the buyer now thinks to himself that he no longer wants to wait the 30 days and files a dispute to get his money back.

Wouldn't paypal automatically hold the funds in my account until i prove that the item has been delivered?


So we have 1 person saying they will and 1 person saying they cant.....lol

Buyers must raise a dispute within 45 days of a single PayPal payment for the full price of the item. If no satisfactory response is received from the seller, a claim must be filed within 30 days of raising the dispute.

From memory you can open a Paypal dispute the day after you made the payment, not sure what the exact time frame, hopefully someone will confirm that, but setting the eBay dispatch time to 30 days wont stop someone from opening a Paypal dispute if they wanted to.

The buyer can open a Paypal dispute anytime they want up to 45 days after the transaction. You can also receive a chargeback up to 180 days after the transaction and the chargeback time frame is to be lengthened shortly as well.

If you set the dispatch time to 30 days, in theory the buyer is agreeing to your terms so shouldn't open a dispute, but most buyers in the UK will start complaining/ask questions after 5 days if item not received yet if you don't have much feedback.

Yes, I know you quoted their words.

But a word of caution, a buyer could get paypal to allow them to dispute the transaction after 45 days.

This has happened.
paypal do not keep their own stated word.

PS..... OP you are taking a big risk putting those conditions on a listing. Be aware of that

You can do it, but do not be surprised when paypal send you a similar letter to what I received, for them 30 day delay has to have some very good reasoning. Realistically if you sell normal items you would not take 30 days to post them. Such as if you make items to order etc. My excuse was that I accidentally used a wrong listing template. They seemed to like it.

My advice is, just keep buyer updated and always use tracked services.

Or if you sell really cheap items in large volumes, just give them their money back if they moan too much. £5 is not gonna be the end of the world for you. But few too many disputes/neg feedbacks will put an end to your account.
