UK Members - REMINDER Royal Mail Prices

Just a wee reminder to all UK members that Royal Mail Prices go up on 2nd April.

You need to act TODAY to not lose out. The PO will be shut on Monday due to the Bank Holiday. Today is the last day to send stuff at the lower rate.

Prices rises only affect packets and parcels.

Letter prices remain unchanged.

oooSMOKYooo 03-30-2013 05:19 AM

Cheers. Forgot about the price raise. Was going to post everything on Tuesday. Going to open a royalmail account. Are they that much cheaper though?

Ebayorbust 03-30-2013 05:31 AM

You need to spend a lot to make any significant savings.

Another point worth noting is that depending on your item's weight / dimension, the price of posting may actually go down.

oooSMOKYooo 03-31-2013 03:16 AM

Yeah would of thought so. Gonna grab a price list on Tuesday.
My hermes is very good atm for mid range weight parcels, collect or drop off your choice..

LOMBOK 03-31-2013 04:28 AM

we have a post office local in our spar shop. all the post office facilities are open when the shop open so can still post on today and monday. i use couriers and also frank my mail but notice that one of my most popular lines will have to go medium parcel now. that's over £2 more! i find you need to check all the couriers regularly as prices are always moving.

stevebills 03-31-2013 04:40 AM

I all ready find Royal mail very expensive for parcels and I use collect+ they charge £3.99
for a 2 kilo parcel

Ebayorbust 03-31-2013 04:43 AM

Virtually all my items are under 1kg so Royal Mail is still the cheapest option.

eternity4u 03-31-2013 05:57 AM

I have to switch to Hermes, if it costing me the same has Royal Mail, then might has well use the comfort of dropping of the packages to Hermes Collection point.

Re: Nosey post office staff!!!

Postage prices has hit the roof starting from today, big joke if you ask me

Imposter 04-02-2013 11:10 AM

Costing me an extra £15 per day this new rise :'(. Also with it being bank holiday I didn't print no labels yesterday as I usually only work 'working days'

moneyhustler88 04-02-2013 12:41 PM

Didn't really hit me too hard, went post office today and it was rammed. I send light items as it is anyway tbf

I am thinking of switching to hermes for my heavier items, anyone know if their compensation handling is as bad as RM? RM make it so that you will not bother. The good thing with hermes is you do not need to get each individual item proof of postaged, the scan on all of them takes care of that.

desperatedan 04-09-2013 05:51 AM

Well it depends on the cost for cover really.

I use Hermes through Parcel2go.com and they deal with the compo cover for them. No problems so far..

stevebills 04-09-2013 07:54 PM

Royal mail is to pricey?

I seem to be using collect+ more than ever with there up to 2 kilo deal at £3.99
and royal seems much more expensive after price increase and this small and large parcel ripoff deal

Ebayorbust 04-10-2013 03:02 AM

Is that a "signed for" and tracked service?

stevebills 04-10-2013 06:32 PM

tracked with £50 insurance and no sig

keithy72 04-10-2013 06:53 PM

Bad news I know, thinking of looking at other options myself....Also must mention that there is an increase with the large letter too.

The new requirements for eBay Top-rated seller status

To maintain your eBay Top-rated seller status, simply carry on providing the great service and good shopping experiences that your customers have come to expect – and you’ll continue to receive greater visibility in Best Match search results.

However, in order to retain the eBay Top-rated seller badge on your listings and discounts on your final value fees, you’ll need to meet the account-level requirements and provide all of the following services on your individual listings.

Important: You don’t have to meet these requirements for all of your listings, but you’ll only receive the associated benefits and final value fee discounts on listings which do meet the requirements.

You must offer:

A minimum returns period of 14 calendar days, using the new way of specifying your returns policy.
1-day or same-day dispatch.
An express delivery option – offering delivery within 1 day.
A free postage option.

And there is the kicker :)

stevebills 04-23-2013 11:00 AM

I cant get my head around this free postage option as surely u would put the postage on the item being sold unless u were stupid
the good thing for ebay it will increase there fees so they advise u to do business this way lol
