Can any PC whizz's offer some advice please...

Yesterday I was have some trouble re-starting my laptop. After several attempts I hit the system restore and only managed to wipe everything and I mean everything, documents, photo's the whole shebang!

On the upside it looks like I now have a brand new laptop, on the downside it looks like I have lost everything.

Does anyone know if there is a way of getting that info back or am I totally done for?

The ironic thing is that I have just bought a new external disc drive to transfer over files but didn't get round to doing it:doh:

Thank you

What system was used?

What sort of laptop?

Avoid touching anything else until you get more replies.

There are a couple of things that might work

Hang in there

Hi,

I've had success in the past with a free program called Recova.

Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download

Definitely worth a try.

It is possible that chunks and fragments may well have survived depending on the level or reformatting that was done. Use, as Murray suggests, a program like Recova and you may get some of it back

Ufs explorer is something I use and works pretty well, not sure what your end result will be but worth a try

You can undo system restore anytime you want. Just redo the steps you did in the first place.

That might work if you can recall what you did.

What then?

Have you tried it?

More users who say they have, the more helpful for future queries.
