| | | thekid | 07-20-2008 09:37 AM | Online or Virtual bank what is a virtual bank
and is there any uk virtual bank |
| mantisinc | 07-21-2008 01:21 AM | No such thing. |
| GreenBean | 07-21-2008 01:24 AM | Mantis is correct. Virtually impossible to find a virtual bank in the UK.;)
There are banks that allow online banking. (Which we know):p |
| thekid | 07-21-2008 07:14 AM | yes there is
they are on my other thread |
| GreenBean | 07-21-2008 07:26 AM | Thatkid Read your question again.....'Is there a virtual UK bank'. And the answer is still NO.;) Those on your other thread are relevant to the USA, which when I did geography was a different country from the UK. Only this site smile.co.uk - the internet bank
is the online or internet bank.:) |
| thekid | 07-21-2008 02:22 PM | GreenBean i didnt say how many uk virtual banks there
atleast there is one uk virual bank account
and i am from uk so i am trying to help the people from the uk as most of the members are from usa and only talk about there ebay so there has to be someone helping the people from the uk
so the kid is here :) |
| badebay | 07-21-2008 02:33 PM | @~###@~#!!!~!++@@~### ouch !! yea greenbean !! us Brits ; we put ausie on the map ..slap !! ouch !!! ( just kidding ) |
| thekid | 07-22-2008 01:10 PM | smile.co.uk
is really good as no identity is needed to open a savings account and can be created in about 5 minutes
but it take a while to get conformation if you have been accepted.
plus you get a visa card
this is a real good alternative to a high street bank as you can have lots of bank accounts created really fast and can be used on paypal for confirmation. |
| pauluss | 07-23-2008 05:07 AM | for a UK bank account to be used with PayPal it MUST MUST MUST support direct debits
I have said this many times before and still people insisit on advising adding savings accounts that will only lead to the PayPal set up failing |
| thekid | 07-23-2008 08:17 AM | i don't know what you are talking about pauluss
i had opened a halifax savings account and it worked fine with paypal |
| GreenBean | 07-23-2008 08:32 AM | Pauluss is correct with his comments. You may well have opened your Halifax savings account but there is an outside chance that the mandate for paypal will be returned and the account is no use. IF that account does not accept Direct Debit (which many Halifax do not), you get the initial approval and then it is withdrawn. |
| ebayhateluv | 07-23-2008 09:36 AM | Have u guys attempted BOFI ? Bank of the Internet?? |
| thekid | 07-23-2008 10:52 AM | is it based uk |
| ebayhateluv | 07-23-2008 04:57 PM | HI: NO- it is u.s.a. based--but i do not know if they entertain out of usa? but worth a shot--- i do know they are offering high interest ck accts!!! :) |
| greg2414 | 07-23-2008 05:11 PM | Not all savings are useless lol, i have like 6 with barclays and all accept dd's also i have 2 with halifax which have not had a mandate returned.
I tell you why the mandate is returning, is because you lot are just opening the account online and you think thatsd it;s open....... it's not. After that you need to go to your bank and meet someone show your i.d etc etc then deposit £1+ then it is active. Before that, any payments or dd's setup will be blocked.
p.s Halifax wont call you or mail you to go in, i found this out by ringing. |
| thekid | 07-23-2008 06:46 PM | see i made my point
greg2414 is from uk and he knows what he is talking about
saving accounts can be used
everytime they suspend you off ebay do you want to keep going the the high street bank and wait for them to open you account in two weeks
i don't think so ! |
| greg2414 | 07-23-2008 06:50 PM | I dont care what anyone else say's they do work, full stop!
Make sure it is actualy activated. Like i said before Halifax wont tell you to do this, BUT it must be done.
Last im saying on this subject as it's like a broken record |
| GreenBean | 07-23-2008 06:54 PM | ..Kid, you are so right. No one can risk going up the High Street and opening banks. So if the account gets opened, funded AND works with paypal, then all is GREAT.:)
As greg2414 & you have pointed out a little work gets that verified paypal account. Good posts! Hope that other UK users understand NOW what to do.:p |
| thekid | 07-23-2008 07:23 PM | smile.co.uk
ask us to send identification
didnt know this is sending photocopys ok as it say authorised photocopys whatever that means |
| ambercolour | 07-25-2008 10:57 AM | But if you are opening Bank accounts and then using a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name on paypal accounts/ebay accounts isnt this a case of money laundering? |
| thekid | 07-25-2008 11:13 AM | no this is the only way to stay on ebay and surviving
there is no other ways |
| ambercolour | 07-25-2008 02:18 PM | kid I know what you are saying, but I am trying to look at it at a lawyer point of view. Is this a case of money laundering.
If you google it, it states "Money laundering is the practice of engaging in financial transactions in order to conceal the identity, source".
So if we are using ⊗⊗⊗⊗ names on Paypal and eBay and its a tool to make money, is that money laundering ?
Myself and I hope it isn't, but you need to look at it at a legal point of view, because if you are caught Money laundering its a serious offence esp in USA/Europe. |
| thekid | 07-26-2008 04:33 PM | is there any online bank that does not ask for identification or is there some sort of online account which can be linked to your bank account but which gives you different account numbers |
| greg2414 | 07-28-2008 06:02 PM | kid, NEVER open a bank account with a false name it's fraud. You need to have a serious read over everything.
CREAT the bank account in your real name and then in paypal ebay you use the false name.
Once again i will repeat EBAY/PAYPAL DONT SEE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT NAME SO YOUR OK! |
| mantisinc | 07-30-2008 11:54 AM | I thought it was common sense that it's a free jail sentence to give ⊗⊗⊗⊗ details to the bank? |
| thekid | 07-30-2008 01:58 PM | i did not say to give ⊗⊗⊗⊗ details to the bank i said to paypal
how can you give ⊗⊗⊗⊗ details to the bank anyway because you have to show them identity with your name |
| scouse12345 | 08-04-2008 11:53 AM | FFS..... not much changes here i see.........;) |
| geester1 | 08-11-2008 10:04 AM | what happens though when you provide your real name for the bank account, then a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ 1 for paypal and Ebay, after a couple of months, Paypal will ask for verification, photo id, etc, as your account has hit the limit and to remove any restrictions for money laundering, you need to provide photo ID.
What do you do then? |
| oompaloompa | 08-17-2008 11:42 AM | hi
smile is setup online but requires address and name id, you send photo copies
stamped as true copies by a bank or solicitor. e-bay doesnt check address so you can use real one but name either has to be real to submit real docs. |
| Lost-4-Words | 08-17-2008 10:05 PM | This is interesting regarding set up in the UK Says they can set up accounts legal with no problems only in the U.K ebay suspension - ebay account suspension help
Also does anyone know what MC081 notice from ebay means, I have asked a few times but I keep getting blanked  |
| GreenBean | 08-17-2008 10:21 PM | Firstly, your link does not work. Secondly that company has not be so great with supplying UK accounts despite their claims. Accounts purchased have not lasted on ebay UK.
You have been duplicating your posts so they sure get blanked. If you go to the thread named MC Suspension Codes you have been answered.
eta: link works. Browser troubles with me. |
| Lost-4-Words | 08-18-2008 10:28 AM | Yes GreenBean,
Thanks for that I got the post from you, I am new to all this so I don't know what I am doing but getting the hang of it now ! I checked the link and it seems to work, also my friend has used this guy and has been trading for 9 months with no problems, I am just not prepared to pay £199 for the pleasure if I can do it myself that's why I am here !
Thanks again for answering my question on the other post. |
| mangler | 09-09-2008 09:34 AM | ive just heard from my friend that to verify his bank account with paypal his registered address for his bank had to match what he had input on paypal...
can anyone else confirm this???
if so, does this not cause problems for verifying your paypal accounts because the address would always be the same? |

| Quasi_Mojo | 09-14-2008 12:02 PM | |
| digitaliz | 09-16-2008 06:00 AM | Mangler, don't listen to friends, listen to us, paypal cannot see anything registered with your real account, your bank will not provide paypal with any personal information ie, your name, address etc, UK data protection act does not allow this. |
| mangler | 09-16-2008 06:15 AM | cheers, this is what i thought |
| digitaliz | 09-16-2008 06:25 AM | Just to add to my previous post, it seems some people are having difficulties verifying their paypal accounts, from personal experience I have verified 2 accounts in the last few weeks without problems, but at this moment we don't know if some banks are sharing information or not. |
| SheerGold | 09-16-2008 03:22 PM | [QUOTE=Quasi_Mojo;58071]Could you please describe why it's a scam?
Follow the link and then try to get the product/information. It's soon becomes obvious why. |
| Quasi_Mojo | 09-16-2008 06:25 PM | From what I read, it seems like the information offered in the link provided is the same type of information that aspkin offers, at 10 times aspkin's price. 'Course, that person also advises they offer phone support. They offer the same type of TrialPay offer (which is why they refer to it as "free") that aspkin offers.
Nope... it isn't obvious to me. So I ask again, why do you call it a scam?
I'm sure if it was a scam, aspkin would have removed the link. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 02:25 AM. | |
