Royal Mail ISF to Australia - delivery confirmation?

Is there any online delivery confirmation on the RM site for packages sent to Australia using RM ISF?

The reason I'm asking is because I wanna know how safe I'd be in the event of a PayPal claim.

No. it'll be tracked whilst in the UK, but once it's left here that's it.

Royal Mail International Signed For

You'd need to use Airsure, but as far as I remember (I may be wrong), PayPal don't accept that (even though it's fully tracked, but not signed for by the recipient)

You can use either International Signed For Small Packets (signature) or Airsure Small Packets (just confirmation of delivery, no signature) via Royal Mail.

For PP is a signature on delivery.

All you need for PP is a signature on delivery.

how did i know you'd pipe up with your "advice".

you won't get a signature with ISF to Australia. And Airsure gets confirmed by the postman that delivers it, not signed for by the person who's supposed to get it.

maybe you should update your copy-and-paste answers

So charming as ever.

Using ISF you will get a signature. End of.

To OP - Go to Price Finder | Royal Mail Group Ltd type in the country your item is being posted to, the weight, and click 'Delivery confirmation required'. Your options are International Signed For Small Packets, which means your parcel will get signed for.

This is the best options via the Royal Mail

If you can not work out a reasonable cover from RM, then reconsider even shipping internationally.

Service is horrible to Australia even if you get the buyer to pay for quick postage

Consider that for the sake of your account

But I can't actually OBTAIN a copy of that signature (so I could present it to PayPal)...so what's the point?

And how will PayPal side with me, the seller, if the delivery confirmation doesn't come up on Royal Mail's online tracking tool?

Have you read the FAQ on the link I gave in my first post? Some countries are tracked overseas, Australia isn't one of them. Even if the item was signed for in Australia, the OP wouldn't see it -

"Unfortunately, we cannot provide a copy of this signature. Your item is delivered to its destination by the registered postal service of that country and a signature will be taken at the delivery address. This will not necessarily be the signature of the addressee. This means the item is not left unattended or just posted through a letterbox. If no one is available to sign for the item, it will be retained by that country’s postal administration either for another delivery or for collection by the addressee. In the case of a claim, we will request proof of signature from the postal administration there but this cannot always be provided."

As for Airsure - "When your mail is delivered, the item will be electronically scanned by the postal operative delivering it to confirm it has arrived. A signature is not taken, but an electronic delivery confirmation is used to update our tracking tool."

that's "signed" for by the person that delivers it, not the person who receives it. Best advice, as GB has said, is use a courier service that will get a signature on delivery and provide you with it (which Royal Mail clearly state they won't do).

OP, read the Royal Mail website about ISF and Airsure if you must. I like to back up my posts with facts and quotes, unlike some others!

That's why ISF isn't useful to post to Australia. Airsure is of no use either. If it's a high value item, use a courier. Personally, I've never had a problem posting anything to Australia, be it a small £5 item, or a reasonably priced £250 one.

Yours charmingly

If it doesnt cut too much into profit margins, what about considering UPS or TNT?

GreenBean 08-23-2013 05:27 AM

pfffffffffffffffffftttttttttttttttttttttttt.

If that was viable I would have suggested such services, rsot.

Right - still worth mentioning if OP is worried about being protected from claims

Not for the high premium they are not.

There are other options streets ahead of both of your suggestions.

It's alright, guys...I convinced the buyer to accept my amended invoice where I charged him a bit extra for UPS shipping.

Thanks for all your insights and advice. :)

I am also sure that last year, when I posted items to Canada, Hong Kong and the USA that a signature was digitally visible. Maybe my memory is fading at a young age.

I don't see how that's relevant, as my buyer is neither from Canada, Hong Kong, or the USA.

GreenBean 08-23-2013 07:54 AM

boom boom!!!

We have a winner. Country in question was AUSTRALIA.

Any other country is irrelevant to the topic.
